For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

I had the first draft of my novel written. What next? Obviously I was looking to be published. Now, you need to know my motivation behind all this. Basically I was wanting to leave a legacy for my children. I have to admit I was not the best father in the world as they were growing up and now that I have a good relationship with them I want them to know where their old man is coming from and what I would want to say to them given half a chance. I know, I know, why don't I take the opportunity to do that. Well, it's a little more complex than that. Neither of them would sit down and listen to their old man wax lyrical about his life, but they have both read my first novel and really enjoyed it.
There was also a sense in which I wanted to provide something for people to think about. Many of the people I know believe what they believe because that's the way it has always been for them. Having been there, done that, got the t-shirt to prove it, I have come to the realisation that throughout life we need to go back and reassess our beliefs and attitudes from time to time to determine whether they are still appropriate for us in our current phase of life.
Many people haven't done that .......ever. As a result they end up with outdated beliefs that are no longer useful and wonder why life is not turning out the way they expected.

Woah, back down off my hobby horse I just want to say that time's up for today. Next time (it hasn't been the daily post I thought it would be) I'll tell you the path I chose when it came to publishing and why I chose that particular path.
