This doesn't have anything to do with either writing or marketing, not directly, but I'm happy to share the simple news. I finished doing the taxes.

My husband is from Southeast Asia. He always contends that because this is my country, I should be the one responsible for figuring out our income tax. Of course, he's been in this country for more than thirty years so I'm not sure about the validity of that argument.

I have struggled with this task every year. I'm not a mathematician, and I hate working with details--preferring the broad strokes of creativity. One year I insisted he do the taxes instead. We ended up with a large tax liability. I reluctantly reassumed the job.

Finally, last year, I bought a computer program to do our taxes for us. It was wonderful. And this year was even better. I finished the entire process in about two hours. Ahh.

Tax season is not the most pleasant of times. I'm glad, at least, that I've found a way to make it all a little more bearable.

Now I can get back to writing without the sword of April 17 hanging over my head.
