Got your bracelet on?

Maybe my granddaughter inherited my genes: always trying to have fun, causing a little trouble, and getting some action going.

But at her age - one-day old - could she have already started?

While my daughter-in-law was feeding her, the nurse rushed in the hospital room. “Need to verify some information.” She reached for my granddaughter’s tiny foot and examined the bracelet.

In her wiggly stage, she had kicked it off and set off the alarm in the nurses’ station, thus, prompting an immediate rush to make sure all was okay.

Technology, huh? Amazing. The system can detect the slight movement of the bracelet from the place it should be. If not, action is taken.

A bit of comfort fluttered in me, knowing she was being so closely monitored for her security.

But no sophisticated vigilance compares to that of God’s watchful eye.

Would I dare think any of my feelings, apprehensions, doubts, or discouragement escape His divine monitoring?

No way! He’s probably watching each word I write, every feeling that swirls in my heart, and each thought that floods my mind. For sure, He has His monitoring system working with the power no man can fathom.

And, unlike the hospital remote system, God’s gaze fixed on us is as close as His whisper and as palpable as the truth of His Word.

I pray you rest assured. No need to worry about keeping your bracelet on. Nothing can remove His loving watch over you. And delighting in the security of His close attention, you can echo the psalmist words: “Test me, O LORD , and try me; examine my heart and my mind; for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth” (Psalm 18:3) .
