Do what happens when hubby doesn't take the hint?

So what happens when hubby doesn’t take the hint?

Most of the time it’s my fault. And you’d think I’ve learned by now. Nope. My hubby has been doing so well in taking care of his health. He lost 55 lb. So proud of him!

However, he’s done this before…and months later, he put it back on. Yikes!

So, my duty as a good wife is to remind him to exercise. But I do it the smart way. Early in the morning I mutter softly, “Gym, gym…gym.”

Hoping he’d take the hint, slip into his tennis shoes, and dash to grab the first treadmill available.

Didn’t work. "Honey, what happened?" I asked. “I was trying to remind you before you got up, remember?”

“Oh!” he says, after a chuckle. “I thought you were still sleep and dreaming about a guy named Jim. I heard you say, ‘Jim, Jim.’”

Isn’t he a funny guy?

With my head hanging low, I admit I’ve done the same when hearing God’s Word.

Did He say to be sorry? Or something about glory? He didn’t; he said not to worry. “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt 6:34).

Christmas often thrust us in worry mode—got all the gifts bought? The menu planned? Family members all smiling in harmony? Lights outside look good?

Phew! Sometimes worrying is a full-time job. But only when we misunderstand God’s clear instruction not to worry.

So, sighing with resignation. I let hubby make his own decision about the gym. In the meantime, I focus on the true essence of God’s message.

Praying you too, break down the bars of worry and step into the freedom of His peace.
