It seems that the war in Iraq is a never ending saga that has now taken on a life of its own and seems surreal. Many of our troops have been killed since this war started. Now the rate of troops that are being killed is reaching staggering amounts because of the use of dirty bombs that are getting more deadly as the weeks pass by. There are deaths on the enemy side as well in addition to the innocent civilians that are killed. The thing that troubles m my spirit when I here the latest war statistics are the spiritual consequences of war. Every soldier on either side or civilian that dies not only loses his or her life but they lose their spirit. We never get a chance to see their spirit live up to its full potential and see the impact that their spiritual development might have had on this world. We don’t know if a Gandhi, Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, Mother Theresa or Martin Luther King Jr’s that the world did not get a chance to experience because of war. More immediately is the spirits of the mothers, fathers, children, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and best friends of the men and woman who die as a result of wars. Their lives are immediately changed as a result of the absence of their loved one but their spirits are also changed. The spiritual development of all of the people that loved anyone that has died as a result of war is forever altered.
