Have you experienced this? When things you counted on just vanish, leave, evaporate with no trace. And, on top of it all, you receive discouraging news?

Waving my hand in the air, "I’ve been there!"

Actually it feels like life is a roller coaster. The only thing is I didn’t buy a ticket, didn’t even volunteer to visit the attraction park...but still here I am—seated in place, hair flying in the wind as I go up, up. But suddenly, with no warning, with the speed of a rocket landing, unexpected news, a setback or unplanned glitch sends me downward. Stripped of energy, passion and desire to move forward.

Feeling empty, totally empty, God’s words tapped into my heart:

"Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior" (Habakkuk 3:17-18).

When we’re on the way down, it seems as if we’re on the losing end, doesn’t it?

Emptiness is not pretty. But the calling is clear…to still praise Him, still sing glory to His name, still trust, still believe in His Promise that He’d never violate His covenant to see us through any trial, any downward spiral, or pain that burns in us.

He’s got the answer, the solution, the joy to lift the gloom and fill your soul…so I stand on line to buy a ticket for a life centered around Him…dwelling in His temple is the best attraction park around!
