The natives are restless. Readers of the free serialized novel, Horizons Past ( www.horizonspast.com ) are getting anxious as the novel approaches the midpoint of Act II. They want to keep the action going, rather than reading a chapter each week. The question, "How can we get a copy of the whole book" keeps cropping up.

For those unfamiliar with Horizons Past, here is a brief synopsis:

"Horizons Past examines the possibility of two people with opposite lifestyles developing a lasting relationship, when all they have in common is a shared goal - to escape who they are. Guilt, 'Hollywood,' and a hurricane all collide, keeping the resolution just out of reach until the reclusive poet and movie star learn - letting go of each other is even harder than letting go of the past."

Gypsy, a reader, wrote, "I have now finished all the chapters you have posted and it just totally has me hooked. I can't wait for you to post the next one."

So I finally gave in and did the work to translate the Horizons Past manuscript into reading format and set up the novel in a single PDF download. The download is for sale on www.horizonspast.com for less than ten bucks. Readers now have a choice. They can read the novel for free from the weekly uploaded chapters or they can click the "Buy Now" button and get the novel complete.

Since launching into this project five months ago, I've found the dynamics of offering a free serialized novel quite educational. The results from this adventure are rewarding, and I look forward to observing how it plays out as the book paces toward the climax.
