Author Success Story: Branding via Publicity

Here is an author success story from Judy Belmont, co-author of The Swiss Cheese Theory of Life:

So much of a book's publicity is the preparation and the building of a brand. To prepare for an upcoming release of The Swiss Cheese Theory of Life: How to Get Through Life's Holes Without Getting Stuck in Them! my co-author and I developed a website with wellness videos and information to offer self-help resources even before the book is out.

To start building a media platform, I have used Dan Janal's PR Leads, Reporter Connection and HARO, which are all services where reporters or radio/TV hosts are looking for experts in their field to provide comments to a topic or story. In return, you get name recognition and usually a link to your website.

These services provide a great way to build up a media platform and name and brand recognition, which provides the building blocks for a successful book roll out. Aside from many print attributions, I have had some radio exposure from my responses to these services, and have two more scheduled in October at the time of my book release on October 1, 2011.

Swiss Cheese Theory of Life

The Swiss Cheese Theory of Life is a whimsical yet informative self-help book written by two psychotherapists and wellness speakers that serve up ten slices of self-help! The ten topics, ranging from overcoming regret to developing optimism, offer practical examples and tips to bounce back from adversity and challenge to achieve resiliency and wellness for life!
