Interview with Angie L. Reed

I've got a special treat for you guys today! The Paranormal Teen Book Club interviewed Angie L. Reed, author of the great paranormal teen romance novel, "Hybrid". Hope you enjoy it and remember to go out and get a copy!

Q: Can you tell us a bit about your book, Hybrid?

A: Hybrid is a paranormal love story with a shocking ending. Emily leaves Dallas, Texas to escape the painful memories of her sister's death. Rose is four years old when she dies. She is snatched from a restaraunt parking lot at the hands of a strange man. He kills her and dumps her body in a ditch. Rose is buried and her family leaves Texas because they are heartbroken. After arriving in Beckley, West Virginia, Emily falls for Max. He's perfect--or so she thinks. And then a stranger comes around with ties to the man who killed her sister.

Q: How did you come up with the idea for your story? Were you influenced by any other vampire fiction?

A: Of course I was influenced by Twilight. I decided to make my characters hybrids--half vamp and half human just like Renesmee!

Q: When researching Hybrid, I stumbled upon many people who were raving about how wonderful it was. What does it feel like to have people react in that way to your first novel?

A: It's awesome. Flamingnet reviews--who is highly regarded--compares Hybrid to Twilight and gives Hybrid an 8 out of 10! Sales are great. I'm very pleased.

Q: One thing people may notice in this book is that there are no drugs, sex or bad language like there may be in other books on the market now. Was there a reason behind that?

A:I am a mother and an English teacher and didn't feel like including drugs or sex was necessary for a good story. Twilight is not riddled with references either. I'm pleased I stuck to my guns. The book is scary--isn't that enough? I am writing a novel for adults, however, about vamps and zombies and it will be slightly more adult in theme.

Q: What kind of books do you enjoy reading?

A: Everything from Shakespeare to Meyer! I just love to read!

Q: Do you have any book recommendations for teens who enjoyed your book?

A: The Forest of Hands and Teeth! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q: The book ends on a great cliffhanger. Can you tell us anything about where the story will go in the second book?

A: Bloodling is part two. It is more scary and suspenseful than Hybrid. Hybrid is more of an introduction to the characters. Bloodling reunites Emily with Rose and brothers Max and Julian deal with the reoccurance of their evil grandfather Ursulus--the original vampire. Bloodling is also funnier--Rose--a four year old vampire--likes to eat bugs and squirrels. She's a bit confused about her new life!

Q: Do you have a website or anywhere else where readers can learn more about you and your book?

A: www.angielreed.com. I'm also on Facebook and Myspace.

Thanks again to Angie for the great interview!
