One morning I was sitting out on my back porch.

One morning I was sitting out on my back porch. The time of year was one where the trees behind the storage shed were full of leaves. As my view turned to the motion of the leaves brought on by a mild breeze, I was stunned and truly amazed at what I saw! There was a small space within the leaves on the trees where the clouds and sky could clearly be seen. This image was a CROSS!!

A CROSS! This image remained almost daily throughout the summer and fall months until the leaves had completely fallen.  What a wonderful reminder of the presence of the Almighty God.

Every time I ventured out onto the porch I focused my attention towards the image in the trees.

There were times during those summer months, of course, in which the image was more distinct than others due to the weight of a recent rain, a strong wind, whatever, but that was only temporary. I KNEW that despite the fact that the cross couldn’t be seen clearly at times, it was still there and would re-appear again. IT DID!

There were days during that time that were better than others. We all have those days when the workday was stressful or the traffic was unusually hectic.

Maybe the kids were really trying themselves (which you know NEVER happens).

Whatever headaches the particular day had presented me, except of course for the kids since I have none, I knew that the cross was in the leaves of those trees whether visible or not. It was still there .

When life becomes difficult, and things seem dark and the view becomes cloudy, remember that the cross and God’s presence is still there.

It is in those times where one just needs to keep the faith and focus a little more.

He’s still there with us. He never abandons us, and never will.  Focus on the cross, you will see it.
