A wonderful Relves adventure which explains climate change and its effects on our planet.
This is the third book in ‘The Rescue Elves’ series of children’s books. The Rescue Elves or ‘Relves’ have a very important job at one particular time of the year, Christmas. They are Santa’s Elves, and it is their job to ensure that Santa and his reindeer get their presents to the children of the world, however, to be fit enough for this once a year job, they are given special focused activities, in different parts of the world, throughout the year by Mrs. Claus.
The setting for this adventures activity is one of their favourite, Island Castle, which is set in the middle of a big lake. Relves Charlie, Jack, Sparkle and Holly are very excited, and are looking forward to catching up with friends who live in the lake. However, when they arrive they are greeted with a mystery, the lake water has disappeared, and not only that, but their friends lives are in danger! What could be the cause?
As parents, grandparents, and carers of the world, we have a duty to protect it for the generations who follow us. The dangers the world face through global warming are real to us, its wildlife and environments. Being very aware of this danger I was delighted to discover this book to read with my granddaughter who has just turned five. This Relves adventure in an engaging way clearly explains what global warming is, however importantly, this is not all, it also explains what we can all do to stop it.
Educating our children through wonderful story books like this, which explain very simply the effects that everyday things have on the planet, and how the introduction of new technology can reduce the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, is vital for the future of our planet, and everyone and thing which lives on it. I highly recommend this to families who wish to educate their children on the importance of environmental awareness.

I feel that some of the natural interactions between family and friends are gradually eroding, if not already completely worn away for some. And I was reminded of a C.S.Lewis quotation –
“A children’s story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children’s story in the slightest.”
It also feels like the simple joy of laughing or crying among family and friends is being replaced by beeps, bops and demands to ‘add new features’ or ‘why doesn’t this work?’ or ‘who’s hogging the Wi-Fi?’.
So I set out to create a fun and exciting series of children’s short stories, with lots of adventure and splashes of humor, all paced to hold children’s attention whether reading or listening… at least that’s my hope!
Stories that will delight both boys and girls, the young and old, and, of course, moms and dads! Tales that allow a return to simpler values, kid-like imagination for both children and adults and, I sincerely hope, bring families closer together.

The Relves were very excited today because their rescue mission was taking them to one of their favorite places in the world – the old ruins of the Island Castle. There they would meet up with their young fish friends, who they hadn’t seen in a long, long, time.
“This is going to be such a treat,” Sparkle said with a smile. Holly nodded. “Yeah, I love all the rich, green grass where the old castle sits!” Jack eagerly added, “And the clear blue water of the lake around it all,” as Charlie grinned in agreement.
The Relves had all the special equipment they needed that day. A mountain rescue rope, hard hats so they would not hurt their heads, and sturdy climbing boots.
But, as they got closer to the castle ruins, they could not believe their eyes. What once was an old broken-down castle on a small island in the middle of a gentle lake, was now a towering castle, that sat on what looked like a mountain. And the lake had all but disappeared, except for a few large puddles that looked like they were moving by themselves.
