In a physical year there are 365 days and in a leap year there are 366 days. In a physical week there are seven days and one day is a total of 24 hours. During the course of the year there are four seasons and in your life every 12 months you will grow a year older. The idea is that time is measurable and it is not a constant. I was born in 1983 and now 1983 no longer exist it can never come back only thing left is a memory. Centuries pass away, decades fade, and every December 31st we celebrate the birth of a new time and the death of an old time. A subject that most people shy away from is the fact that life has a birth date and an expiration date and each and every person will meet the deadline.
The word of God says that each man has an appointed time to die and nobody will leave this before or after their appointed date (Hebrews 9:27). When we understand that we must all die and we accept this truth the question is what do we do now? Think about how the decades have past bye or how famous and noble people have passed on what has been left behind? A memory has been left behind in fact your funeral will be a memorial service so that all may remember the life that you have lived and honor that memory. What do you want your memory to be? Will you be known as an austere person, a person that lacked compassion, angry, drunkard, addict, jealous, thief, criminal etc.? Will you be known as a loving, kind, compassionate, gentle, loyal, trustworthy, honest, peaceful, or humble individual? The power is in your hands and although you may have lived your life rotten before the power of Jesus Christ is that you still have time to make a transformation so that your legacy can be a great one. People will look on your life and say he started off wrong but he finished well and that is really what life is about. Truth is we all start off wrong (Psalm 51:5) but we all don’t finish wrong and today Jesus is encouraging all of us to make a decision to trust him to change our life so that we can finish strong. What will God’s memory of your life be? Will it be a memory that says I made every provision for this individual yet they rejected me or will it be a memory that says well done thy good and faithful servant enter into the glory of the Lord (Matthew 25:31-44).
The world gets bent out of shape about death because we hate to lose someone we love. I offer you a golden opportunity to put your family and friends at ease about your passing. The word of God says:
The righteous perishes, And no man takes it to heart; Merciful men are taken away,
While no one considers That the righteous is taken away from evil. He shall enter into peace;
They shall rest in their beds, Each one walking in his uprightness.-Isaiah 57:1-2
When a person makes a decision for Jesus Christ they will enter into the righteousness of God and heaven will be there reward. The evil that happens in this world i.e. sickness, death, natural disasters can no longer harm a person that cease to exist in this world. When death comes for the righteous it is a blessing a crossing over from the troubles of this world into a place of peace and glory and certainly anybody that loves you couldn’t be upset knowing that truly you are in a better place. We personally grieve death because we love are family and friends and we don’t want to leave them. The best thing we can do is cherish everyday like it is our last and set a righteous example for them in hopes that they will follow you into the righteousness of God. Life is a beautiful gift in fact each day is called the present and we should take full advantage of each day. The better gift of life is on the other side of this existence and that gift is absolutely free. The most common misconception is that heaven is earned or deserved but the truth is heaven is a gift from God for those who chose to trust in what he said. When Jesus died on the cross it was for our sins and he paid the price so we wouldn’t have to work our way to heaven. Relax your one way ticket to heaven is paid for all you have to do is put your trust in Jesus Christ for your salvation and take your trust out of your own ability. Time has a deadline please don’t allow that deadline to catch up to you without receiving the gift of eternal life.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.-Ephesians 2:8-9
