These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.-Proverbs 6:16-19
Who are we as people that we feel we have the authority to decide if someone should live or die? Yet murder is a person stating that they are god because they have the power to take away life or destroy it. God hates murder and when we read the headlines of the newspapers we see why. Our hearts cringe when we read of parents killing themselves and their children because of jobs lost. When we read of the civil war that has been going on since the early 1980’s in America involving gangs, drugs, and financial prosperity and the list of casualties that follow this war it’s heartbreaking. I talk to mothers who outlive their children because someone has decided that their child’s life was not valuable enough and the aches in these mother’s hearts is a lot to bear. When I see the look in my friends eyes whose father was killed by a stray bullet while taking a shower I can see why God hates the shedding of innocent blood. The billboards we see of people murdered by drunk drivers and so on death is not easy to come to terms with. When we look around at society and realize that since 1973 over 45 million lives were taken due to abortions alone. Abortion is hard thing to come to grips with because there are so many reasons why people get abortions but let us choose life. There are many children who were born from cases that grew up to be outstanding human beings. It is hard for parents to deal with special circumstances such as these but there is prayer, counseling, programs and also adoption available for a mother who has experienced this type of trauma in her life. The interesting statistic is that of the 42 million abortions that take place a year only 1% fall into the category of rape and 6% occur because of the mother’s health. In those cases I say pray and leave it in the hands of God and let the mother make a sound decision based on what the lord says because I could never understand the pressure or the trauma involved in those circumstances. The other 93% of abortions are because of fornication, irresponsibility, and the unwillingness to be accountable for a decision you made. 93% of 42 million people a year are missing from this world because of irresponsibleness. The question must be asked is our pleasure more important than life and are we a people that our guilty of shedding innocent blood? I myself have two daughters and yet my heart grieves because I think of a decision me and my wife made in between the birth of my first and second daughter. We were afraid to have another child and we had a pregnancy scare and the next morning we went to a doctor and got a morning after pill to deal with it. Now I don’t know if she was pregnant or not but what if she was. Now that she is unable to have any more children I sometimes wonder was that the pill that killed the son I never had. In 2005 there was a reported 1,100,000 suicides. I lost one of my close friends to suicide when I was 16 and tell you there is no worse feeling than that because it brings no closure. We all have problems and when we lose hope then we put ourselves at risk to destroy ourselves. It is my firm belief that suicide has no repentance because how can you ask forgiveness when you’re no longer living but that is my opinion. In any case problems can be solved or we can move on from problems but taking your own life is not ok because your life means something to us and you. When we look around and we realize that over 500,000 people a year are violently murdered what are we to think? We are to realize that a significant number of us are missing. There are kids that should be sliding down slides and playing in playgrounds that aren’t. There are co-workers who should be brightening up your day that are missing. There are politicians, doctors, athletes; grocery store clerks and so on that the world will never meet because somebody decided that you shouldn’t. In my mind I see a picture of Jesus at the grave of Lazarus and I understand now why Jesus wept because death was in the world. Jesus Wept-John 11:35
(Don’t lose hope but hope in heaven life is temporary but heaven is forever and God is faithful enough to forgive us all for our sins even murder and abortion just confess and don’t lose hope)
