Why I Am Here

Hello! My name is Gautam Sen. I have just begun blogging. It's not half as common in India, where I come from, as I suspect it is in the West. Perhaps I wouldn't have thought of blogging at all, but for the circumstances .... I'm a writer (apart from being a teacher), but till now it's been the old-fashioned way: I haven't had to concern myself with book promotion!

Recently, however (25th January 2010, to be precise), ireadiwrite Publishing (Canada) electronically published a children's fantasy novel of mine called THE FANTABULOUS FENS, and they would very much like me to do my bit by way of book promotion ---- and why not?

Now, reading eBooks is not at all the practice in India, as far as I know. In fact, in the place where I work, which is a hill-station in the Himalayas (and therefore, comparatively remote), not many people know much about eBooks. Additionally, banks here have not yet started issuing credit cards, so even if, theoretically, they were interested in buying my book, they wouldn't be in a position to do so!

It's in the West where I'll have to try to promote my book, and I'm here to try to do just that!

This is just for starters. The next time I'm here I'll talk more about myself and about THE FANTABULOUS FENS.
