Hello, Tim, and thank you for your kind comment. I apologize for the delay in responding; I need to make sure I get back to this site more often. I appreciate the welcome and support!
I couldn't stay in Vegas a minute longer. By the end of the PSWA conference, my lips were dry & cracked, my eyes a mess. Is it the smoke in the casinos or the filtered air. I never left the hotel so I know it wasn't the sun.
I'm heading to Atlanta, expecting muggy and humid. What a summer so far. And here in the Valley, I can't even swim because my pool hasn't warmed up. Coolest June ever!
Tim, I roomed with Billie at the Vegas Police Writer's conference. My understanding is she is temporarily not looking at manuscripts while she looks at entries for the three contests Oak Tree Press puts on. Three winners will be considered for publication. I was not aware of this information when we last communicated.
Tim,
I just talked to Billie at Oak Tree. She's swamped right now and behind on the manuscripts. She has several books coming out, so it might be a wait. She's also got some help and has to train the woman.
I've offered to vet the manuscripts and ask the tough marketing questions. You might want to get together a marketing plan and address specifics like who are your media contacts, what is your range of promotion, transportation to events, money for conferences and conventions, health (that's a big one!), visibility on the Internet and in the community, name recognition. The first year is the hardest to get established, but you've already got a book out.
These are things you can work on now while you wait. You're going to need a plan no matter where you pitch your book.
Delray Beach is next to Boca Raton. Boca is 15 miles or so north of Ft. Lauderdale. Very nice area. Palm city is about an hour north I think. I am still trying to figure out the pictures and site. It is a good site. I went to a book signing here with Suzy Welch. She has written the book 10-10-10. Very good book. I also was lucky enough to meet Jack Welch. He is a best selling author and very nice guy. I t was great to chat with them. They already had a copy of PurpleUmpkin so they got a chance to meet me also. The amazing book industry. Best always.
It was great to meet you at the Book Fest, Tim! Sunny did such a great job on the event. We are all lucky to have her help. She has taught me so much.
I hope to be sitting on the other side of the table next year. Seeing the varied selection of authors from the valley has inspired me to keep going full throttle.
Tim,
Read my blog on my site: SPEEDING DOWN THE INFORMATION HIGHWAY. It will help you navigate this new form of marketing. And, anytime you have questions, people here will help!
Look forward to seeing you at the Hanford Book Fest. Sunny Frazier told me that you write historical thrillers. I do author interviews and book reviews for Crime and Suspense e-zine, so let's make sure we talk. I'm a big thriller fan and working on my first thriller novel.

Wasn't the BookFest fun! I like the photo of you that Sherman took.
