yvonne - i used to work on the board of directors for JDF and i understand the importance of Stem Cell research. I'm so glad you wrote a great book about this. Knowledge and information are the only things that will help to gain more testing so that medicine will be able to help people with Parkinsons, spinal injuries and other diseases. Congratulations. How wonderful to know you've done a great thing. Robin
The weekly podcast I host is called WRITERS IN THE SKY. I interview writers, authors, book publishers and publicists. There is a ton of information out there all for FREE! I do this show just for authors like us who are 1. looking for more information about the industry, and 2. want to promote their book or industry-related services.
My schedule is filled until the end of the year, but if you have a book coming out early next year, you might want to get on my schedule now. The guidelines for being on the show are here:

I'm definitely interested in your story; however, sad to hear that you did not benefit from the effort and money spent. I am thankful for this network where we can share our successes and mishaps. It is time well-spent to learn this stuff ahead of time.
I'm thinking of hiring a book publicist here in Nashville to work with me in getting my articles and press releases into the local media. A lot of my promotion will be online. Carolyn Howard-Johnson's book "The Frugal Book Promoter" is a very helpful resource for book marketing too. Carolyn is a member of this group. That is how I ended up here.
We did a "virtiual book tour" last year. (not with Dorothy Thompson). The publicists fee was $3700, which included syndicating 8 articles I wrote on the web, sending out 60 copies of my book and 30 of Jeanne's book. All my articles got syndicated, but what the publicist never mentioned was that these should have been kind of "how too" or "advice" articles. All I did was adapt chapters from my book, to about 750 words. The end result of all that time, effort AND money? Not a SINGLE book sold, as far as we could determine.
Yes, we believe that if you have a strong niche market, and you promote advice-giving articles to appropriate target sites, you may indeed see results. But we certainly didn't.
Best of luck to you nevertheless. Be interested to learn what happens.
I am about to find out what a virtual book tour really is. Dorothy Thompson of PUMP UP YOUR BOOK PROMOTION PR (see http://www.virtualbooktoursforauthors.blogspot.com/) is arranging one for me.
I have a friend who just completed a VBT and she wrote an article about it here: http://www.wordstoprofit.com/WhatsaVirtualBookTour.html
Hi Yvonne, Thank you for your invitation. I'm still learning about this whole process. It's a lot of fun. If we could meet all the people in person that would be really cool. Maybe we can meet someday when I'm out your way doing a booksigning or workshop. Have a great 4th of July. Be Blessed, Victoria

Oops, you comment to me (read after the one I sent) answers my question. Interesting how we get our e-mails out of order. One day I'll figure that out! (-:

So great to be an official friend after the many things we've been doing together. Did you learn about this from my newsletter? I love it because it is a focused group.
Love,
