Nancy, I cannot express how delighted I am to hear from you. Your testamonial of Michael's recovery through faith and the power of prayer is movingly inspirational. I am forever grateful and humbled. When my faith is waning, I shall remember your glorious testament to keep me going. I want to thank you for sharing this with me and others because, you never know who you are touching and helping.
On the lighter side of life, I carpooled my kids, then grandkids, now my 19 year old granddaugther, drives me sometimes. Let's just say, I've worn the door handle out and the passenger side floorboard has a new brake.
I always like to connect with another Christian. I am also a grandmother. I have three adorable grandchildren. Michael the 7 year old recently was bitten by a mostiquto and contracted La Croose Encephalitis. He had one seizure at home two more at our local hospital then four more in the ambulance in route to the Women's and Children's Hospital in Charleston. He spent three days unconscious in the PICU. He wasn't expected to live and if he did survive would most likely be brained damaged and paralyzed. When he awoke talking and walking. The doctors told us that he would have to go on homebound instead of attending school. By the Grace of God, Michael has made a complete recovery. He is back playing baseball and will start school tomorrow. Never under estimate the power of prayer.
It's good to see you here as well Pier. I'm still exploring and getting my bearings, so to speak, but this is definitely a good place to share insights, strategies, and to generally hang out with fellow scribblers. Take care,
Hi Padma,
That's exciting to hear about your script. I wish you the best and I'm sure it will be sold soon. About being a late bloomer...I've been writing for about 15 years or so. I finally decided to do somethig about it and just got published in 2005 at age 55.
Hi Tpier! It is great to meet another poet. Also, I wrote as a teen, then stopped to raise my family. After my Dad died in 2003, I returned to writing poetry with a passion. I guess I'm a late bloomer as well, so I can definitely relate. Good for you, that you are following your bliss. Congrats!!!
My son asked me a couple of weeks ago if I regreted starting to write so late. [;o)] I told him I think my whole life was part of the process of learning. Don't think I'd write the same way without all those experiences.
I uploaded my first chapter in fanfiction Dec. 25, 2004 and have come so far in my writing since then. (Funny, college didn't teach me how to write fiction. But has given me a good solid foundation in history--where much of my ideas are born.)
This summer I've learned to make book trailers and now I'm working on discovering ways to promote writing. Wow, what a process.
Good luck with your contemporary novel. Allow your writer's voice to sing.
