Hello Mari,

Like every literary agent that I know personally, I continue to actively look for the best possible clients--yet I'm actually taking very few of them. People should be aware of this aspect so we manage expectations. My appreciation,

Terry

Hello Mari,

Thank you for the comment about my websites and blog. I have a lot of information online to help writers. As for my agency, I've got specific guidelines for submissions at Whalin Literary Agency LLC. I don't have any experience with coffee-table style books so I don't think those projects would be a good fit for me. Thank you for the comment and consideration. It would be fun to work together in the days ahead,

Hello Mari,

I've been in the publishing world for about 20 years. Thanks for your kind words about my body of work. It's just one book and one magazine piece at a time--and continues to grow each year. If I can help, let me know. I have a lot of resources online and I keep getting great comments about my Book Proposals That Sell and what people learn about publishing from it. Plus there is a lot of information in my blog;

Hi, Mari,
I like to have a big variety on my programs. As faras authors are concerned, I usually have published ones. However, you bring up an interesting point. Since you are doina reading of your poetry, I wonder if there are other ways to do this sort of things that would give poets some credits and credibility even before they are published. I love helping "new" talent get their foot in the door.
If you are interested, contact me at janetelainesmith@yahoo.com and we'll talk.
By the way, I stink at writing poetry! Ask any of my friends!

Dear Mari:
Thank for asking me to join you! As a fellow publicist (former) it is a pleasure. As a publicist and an author I bet you'd like my newsletter, "Sharing with Writers." You would subscribe by sending an e-mail to HoJoNews@aol.com. Put subscribe in the subject line. (-;
I'm sure you will find some new book publicity tricks there and I know my subscribers would like to get some from YOU!
Best,
Carolyn Howard-Johnson

Mari,
I have had first time "newbie" authors who have written some fabulous debut novels, I have had technical writers, I have had some NYT best-selling authors, I have had some authors from other countries (our programs are heard by nearly 100,000 listeners in over 100 countries), and I have had some authors who get off the subject and who are nearly impossible to steer back to the subject-at-hand. LOL! I am trying to broaden my guests to include some agents, marketing experts, publicists, etc. John Kremer will be my guest on Aug. 27 and I am very excited about that.
The best way is to go to http://internetvoicesradio.com and click on the podcasts link and listen to some of my programs in the archives.

I would love to talk to a publicist about this whole crazy book business. If you are interested, please email me at janetelainesmith@yahoo.com
Looking forward to gleaning some ideas from you.
