When most people think about addiction, they usually associate it with drug abuse. Obviously, there is good reason to do so. But some of the top modern addictions might surprise you. This is not an entry about all the various forms of addictions, however.

This discussion is intended to pierce the heart of the matter, regarding escapism. Plenty of time could be spent analyzing the addiction to alcohol, crystal meth, sugar, shopping, dieting, plastic surgery, text messaging, etcetera. But as someone committed to spiritual growth, it is imperative that more time be invested investigating the essence of avoidance.
