Ya’ateeh, As Salaam Alaikum, Shalom, Hotep, Konichiwa, Xin-Chao, Hola – Coma Sta, and Hello to You One and All!

“You’ve Gotta Serve Somebody!”

In the Parsha; as told by Rav Dessler from a passage versed by Rabbi Moshe Travitsky; we are told the story of Noach, and how he built the ark that housed his family and a pair of all creatures during the flood that wiped out all the rest of humanity. The Torah tells us that Hashem said that the reason ‘He’ was bringing this great flood was because the world was full of chamas. On a simple level, the word chamas is taken to mean robbery. Indeed, the Sages tell us that we learn from here that if there is a basket full of sins, the first one that accuses us of wrongdoing is robbery.

~ ‘Al Baqarah’ (The Cow) ~ (The Holy  Qur'an)
‘O’ Ye children of Israel!
Remember my bounties which ‘I’ favored you with, and that ‘I’ gave you a preference to the people of the world.
Guard ye yourselves against the day wherein no soul shall compensate for another nor from it shall intercession be accepted nor from it shall any ransom be taken nor shall they be helped.
“The Virtuous Shall Be Rewarded and The Wicked Shall Be Punished”
~ ‘Al Baqarah’ (The Cow) ~

Leadership:
…the position or function of a leader, a person who guides or directs a group; ability to lead; an act or instance of leading; guidance; direction; the leaders of a group:

Merit:
…claim to respect and praise; excellence; worth; to be worthy of; deserve.
WORDS RELATED TO MERIT
dignity, talent, integrity, value, benefit, excellence, virtue, stature, quality, worthiness, deserve, warrant, justify, arete, caliber, desert, worth, credit, good, asset!

Dr. King’s recommendation is that “we all must have the basic principle of determination to achieve excellence in your various fields of endeavor. Dr. King also recommended that “in our lives,’ a blueprint is that each of us needs a deep belief in your own dignity, your own worth and your own somebodiness. A blueprint “serves as the guide to those who are to build the building [and that] a building is not well erected without a good, sound and solid blueprint. Everyone should be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin!”

“You may be an ambassador to England or France, You may like to gamble, you might like to dance, You may be the heavyweight champion of the world, You may be a socialite with a long string of pearls; But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, yes indeed, you’re gonna have to serve somebody. Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord, But you’re gonna have to serve somebody!”
~ Bob Dylan ~

“SANKOFA”
“The Sankofa symbolizes the Akan people’s quest for knowledge among the Akan with the implication that the quest is based on critical examination, and intelligent and patient investigation.
The symbol is based on a mythical bird with its feet firmly planted forward with its head turned backwards.”

‘Gregory:’
“Vigilanter – Watchfully.”
This surname of BOULWARE was a French locational name meaning ‘one who came from ‘BOULOIS‘ (birch-tree) the dweller near where Birch Trees grew; or near the weir or dam where bullocks were kept.

“A proud and strong people graced the shoreline with their arrived, and despite efforts to shackle their dreams, the human spirit would not be contained. They refused limitations and replaced them with genius. For what they had to offer was a treasure that knew no bounds. And that treasure was to touch every walk of life. They helped settle the West; They invented America’s original music. Through simple acts of courage they stood up for all human dignity. And they’ve cultivated leaders for the next millennium. America’s greatness is its diversity of people.”

With this quotation, we encourage all of you, especially our young; to continue this journey through America, while continuing on together as one people; adding to its treasure of human spirit.

I don’t know what life was like back in ole’ ‘Winnsboro, S.C.,’ but I sure would have liked for someone in the family to have passed on the history. Five Generations of Boulware-Butler Kinsmen have survived from the trek north. From Winnsboro, South Carolina to Baltimore, Md., parts of Delaware, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and New Haven, Connecticut; leaving a trail of family members known and unknown…

My Great-Grandfather’s name was ‘Robert (Pundy) Boulware.’ His father before him, I didn’t/don’t know… My Grandfather after him; a Naval Veteran; was ‘Ernest (Buster) Boulware.’ The missing link was the knowledge of my birth father; a veteran Army Sargent; a man named John Wilson or Williams (unknown for sure)…I was raised to by my surrogate father, ‘Creed Junior McCoy. He was the father of my brothers, Creed Russell, Steven, and Derrick. And then there is Me, the eldest of my mother’s children, Rosa M. Boulware; ‘Gregory Vernon Boulware.’

Our Sons, Gregory Stuart Boulware and Vernon Rockford Boulware, have given my Wife and I nothing but pure pride and fulfillment. They have brought us many years of joy. The growth of our family continues with our grandchildren…Gianni, Gregory Jr., Charlie, and Logan. Josh and Gina; an Airforce Veteran, are another pair of grandchildren brought forth on another branch of the ‘Boulware Legacy.’ I am very much proud of them as well.

Greg., has shown his leadership at a very young age. A graduate of ‘Saul High School,’ in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia; we have always expected him to be a ‘take-charge’ individual on his way up when he became the leader of a landscaping crew after graduation. “His work/track record has proven to be above and beyond exemplary!” AFSCME’s newly appointed ‘Business Agent’ for Local #394 of Philadelphia’s Water Department, the former ‘Treasurer‘ for the last four (4) years. Working out of the SW Plant, he has been the Shop Stewart for thirteen (13) years and thirteen (13) years at the NE Plant in northeast Philly. You can rest assured that he’ll do a fine job in representing Us All! Vernon was more scholarly in his approach. His leadership qualities also began in his early beginnings as well as his older brother. A graduate of ‘Northeast High School, he began his working career with ‘CVS’ and then at ‘Wawa’ (A trainer, Assistant Manager, Manager, and Team Leader) in or about 2010.

Much credit can be awarded to my Grandmother, Irene Gertrude Butler-Boulware. She had instilled within Me, the quality values of graciousness and merit. My wife; in her own right; Virginia, “Ginny” to our family and friends; simply “Gin,” to Me…our union of 45 (ongoing) years has produced offspring that have made our life together all the more joyful, loving, inspiring, and worthwhile, as well as fruitful. She, a ‘Registered Nurse and Teacher’ for all of our years together have been a major factor in the upbringing of our children, and now our grandchildren. Her parents before her, ‘Charles and Virginia Coulter,’ have been truly emeritus in her inspired upbringing. This rewarding honor has been passed down within our branch of the family tree.

A list of American Indians who have lived in South Carolina has been compiled by John R. Swanton in his The Indian Tribes of North America. Many of the tribes in this list may have had very limited contact with the area which became South Carolina. Some have become extinct or have been consolidated with other tribes. And some may simply be variant spellings.

~Boulware Coat of Arms / Boulware Family Crest~
This surname of BOULWARE was a French locational name meaning ‘one who came from BOULOIS’ (birch-tree) the dweller near where birch trees grew; or near the weir or dam where bullocks were kept. The earliest French hereditary surnames are found in the 12th century, at more or less the same time as they arose in England, but they are by no means common before the 13th century, and it was not until the 15th century that they stabilized to any great extent; before then a surname might be handed down for two or three generations, but then abandoned in favour of another. In the south, many French surnames have come in from Italy over the centuries, and in Northern France, Germanic influence can often be detected. Surnames derived from place names are divided into two broad categories; topographic names and habitation names. Topographic names are derived from general descriptive references to someone who lived near a physical feature such as an oak tree, a hill, a stream or a church. Habitation names are derived from pre-existing names denoting towns, villages and farmsteads. Other classes of local names include those derived from the names of rivers, individual houses with signs on them, regions and whole countries. The origin of badges and emblems, are traced to the earliest times, although, Heraldry, in fact, cannot be traced later than the 12th century, or at furthest the 11th century. At first armorial bearings were probably like surnames and assumed by each warrior at his free will and pleasure, his object being to distinguish himself from others. It has long been a matter of doubt when bearing Coats of Arms first became hereditary. It is known that in the reign of Henry V (1413-1422), a proclamation was issued, prohibiting the use of heraldic ensigns to all who could not show an original and valid right, except those ‘who had borne arms at Agincourt’. The College of Arms (founded in 1483) is the Royal corporation of heralds who record proved pedigrees and grant armorial bearings. The bulk of European surnames in countries such as England and France were formed in the 13th and 14th centuries. The process started earlier and continued in some places into the 19th century, but the norm is that in the 11th century people did not have surnames, whereas by the 15th century they did.
