My spirit was very troubled as I listened to the news and heard the story of a twelve year old girl that was shot in the back. The girl was shot at a party between the hour of 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. The shooting along was in and of itself enough to upset anyone. The thing that troubled my spirit the most was the fact that a twelve year old girl was out t a party at those hours of the morning. I would like to know what kind of parental or guardian control is being practiced that would allow any twelve year old to be out during those hours. My thought at the time was that the adults that are responsible for the safety of that child should be brought up on various charges. The least of which would be negligence and endangering the welfare of a minor. The next day I learned that the mother of the twelve year old who was shout told her daughter she could not go to the party and had slipped of the house to go to the party. I think that the statement that the mother made troubled my spirit also. The question I now had was what kind of parental or guardian control is being enforced that would allow a twelve year old to slip out the house unknown. Also there is the other question of what kind of environment that this child was raised in that would allow her to make the decision to leave home at such hours in the morning. I think more than ever that the adults responsible for the twelve year old girl should be charged with something. There actions or lack of actions are as bad as the person that did the shooting.
