51 Ways to Blog as a Novelist
We all know that blogging is one of the best ways to get attention in today's Internet world. A blog is a godsend to your website, bringing it traffic, fans, and more. But you have to post regularly.
Stuck for what to blog about? Here are some tips for novelists, but the same tips can apply to writers of nonfiction, memoirs, children's books, business books, and more.
- Review other novels, especially from other lesser-known novelists.
- Write a blog post using the voice of one of your main characters.
- Have that main character tell some side stories not included in the novel.
- Write about the setting - time and/or place. Use some of the research you did to ensure that your novel was accurate.
- Invite your readers to review your book. Feature their testimonials on your blog.
- Interview some of your readers: via Q&A text or via an Internet radio show or via a teleseminar.
- Podcast your book, one section at a time.
- Write about trends in your genre.
- Write about your favorite novelists, especially those that write in your genre. Include their photos and a sampling of their books.

Hi I'm new to the group. My name is Darryl, from The Bronx, NY. I'm a month or so close to printing my first urban fiction entitled, "Two for Five".
I'm looking to network with authors, marketers, and readers who are willing to exchange info about free publicity and book promotion.
Also, if anyone has any info or positive feedback reqarding setting up targeted mailing list, that would be great.

I am starting a syndication, where we choose to run a chapter of books--readers pay $2 to pay the selection committee. We vote on the best at the end of the month. "A best Author of the Month" can do a lot of good to a resume.
Is anyone interested in submitting. Let me know.

Hi,
I'm new the group. I'm a breast cancer survivor who battled liver disease. "Organic for Health" is my story about how with an organic diet healed my liver and is helping me fight cancer recurrence.
I am working on a book trailer. In July, I will have a blog tour--my first. Anyone have suggestions?

Wow, a number of familiar of names on this group. Hi everyone. I noticed a caption at the top of this discussion stating that someone could start a group for reviewing books and having others review our books. I'd be happy to review books. I post on amazon.ca, goodreads, and I just started blogging on myspace, if that helps. I'm also looking for reviewers to post online reviews for Fatal Encryption, my amateur sleuth mystery that was published last month.
