Something About Me and My Book:: Steven David Lampley is a twenty-one year veteran police officer and sex-crimes (SVU) detective. Steven worked some of the toughest streets America had to offer in a city that was ranked fifth by the FBI in violent crime. You have probably seen some of the cases on which Steven worked on such television networks as Investigation Discovery®, TruTV®, and The Discovery Channel® and in print media such as the New York Times®, Los Angeles Times®, the San Diego Union Tribune®, Gadsden Times®, and numerous other true crime books and publications.

Steven interacted with the notorious serial killer and cannibal, Jeffrey Dahmer. Steven negotiated with, andarrested, The Clairemont Killer who was featured on America's Most Wanted®. During one of Steven's undercover sting operations, he and his team apprehended a Fugitive from Justice on Canada's Most Wanted.

Steven worked closely with the FBI, the United States Postal Inspector's Service, the Department of Justice's United States Attorney's Office, as well as the Alabama State Attorney General's Office under Troy King.

Steven also served as a Traffic Homicide Investigator, Firearms Instructor with training through the FBI, Riot Team Member, Competition Firearms Team Member, and Field Training Officer. Steven received two awards as Police Officer of the Year as well as numerous departmental and civilian commendations.

Steven has two books, "Detecting Liars," a short book on how to tell if someone is lying to you. The same techniques police detectives use.

His second book, "Outside Your Door," is a true crime book of real cases straight from his case files and stories from his police career. REAL cases. REAL stories. REAL people. "Outside Your Door" will be released May 8, 2017, and will first be available on Amazon.
