Graphic Novel Friday Campfire Comics Moby Dick

I was a little bit perplexed and shocked to have seen that this graphic novel had gotten 126,000 ratings on Goodreads. I mean, I enjoyed it, but that would make this one heck of a popular graphic novel. What I came to discover though was that this was not just a rating for the graphic novel but also the book itself. I am sticking to the graphic novel, I enjoyed that much more. If you have read any of my previous posts on the Campfire graphic novels (if you haven’t, please feel free to browse…

A new BookJournal is published!

I've just completed a Book Journal for publication. It's virtually a blank book, or, should I say, a book with blanks for you to fill in. The many pages include Books on Loan, Borrowed Books, Books on Order, and Wish List. The idea is to maintain a list of all the books you lend out to someone, the ones you borrow from someone (and that can include library books as well), the ones you ache to own, and those you've already ordered. There's also a section called My Favorite Books, in which you… Continue

The Zaftans have arrived!

My new novel, Zaftan Entrepreneurs, Book 1 of the Zaftan Trilogy, is now available in print and ebook versions.  My website, http://hankquense.com/ZE-main.html,  has links to bookseller sites.

Four pre-publication reviews are unanimous in praising the novel and all gave it five stars. Some of their comments include, "This story is filled with action, romance, and Quense's trademark unique, satirical wit." and  "Zaftan…

UNCONVENTIONAL CONVENTIONS

Mystery conventions have to be some of the wackiest, most creative and high energy get-togethers around, Comic Con not withstanding (if you can stand a hundred Darth Vadersroaming around).

Years ago,…

MIchael Palmer A Heartbeat Away

Confession time: even though I have been following this author on various social media this is the first time I have read one of his novels. I know, groan, what is my issue, I have to claim no excuse. Michael Palmer’s bio is impressive as is his body of work. I will include all that in today’s post so hopefully if you are like me and haven’t had the chance to read one his works, you can shift gears and either get a hold of A Heartbeat Away or one of his other many novels. A Higher Court - John L. Betcher, Author

A Higher Court – Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat
"God vs. Science at it's Best"
“Thank you for coming today.  My first announcement may be a surprise to some of you who are familiar with typical jury selection procedures.  But there will be no voir dire – no questioning of Jurors for today’s trial.”  The Judge seemed to be looking directly at me as he continued to speak.  “All of you have been chosen to serve as…

Steve Berry The Balkins Escape & my interview with him!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with NYT Bestselling author Steve Berry. He was very engaging, put me at ease immediately, and was very engaging. We covered a variety of subjects, some old, some surprisingly new and he was nice enough to throw a few tidbits to share with everyone. But first I want to get in a few thoughts on his digital short story that sheds some light on his current novel The Emperor’s Tomb , The Balkans…

Encouragement

Throughout the entire process of writing, rewriting, and editing my novel, Deadly Portfolio: A Killing in Hedge Funds, I wanted, above all else, for my book to be accepted as an artistic success. Now that it is in print, I am thrilled with the reviews. They have been over the top, and I want to translate them into sales. Finding myself less than two months away from my 72nd birthday, I realize that the Internet is my best vehicle for promoting…
