Promoting

I have a new thing that I do. I spend a half hour a day promoting my books. Once I have accomplished my goal of one half hour, I give myself permission not to do any more promoting that day. If I still want to I can, but I give myself permission to stop.

I do this because promoting can be such discouraging hard work with no end in sight. There is so much to do and yet so little to do. I feel like I am trying to bail out the ocean with a teaspoon. Especially since I have a small… Continue

A Sense of Mounting Excitement

The prospect of the paperback release of 'Legacy of the Ripper', the sequel to 'A Study in Red' came a step closer yesterday, when my publisher contacted me to inform me that the files had been sent to the printers, and that all we have to do now is wait, and keep an eye on Amazon on a daily basis as the book will appear as soon as the printers can get it out and on to the Amazon database. I just love the cover that Deron Douglas at Double Dragon Publishing has produced for the book and can't… Continue

Getting started on social media can often be deceptively simple – What’s the big deal? You sign up. – or intimidating – Why am I being asked for my date of birth? – or overwhelming – How do I find people to friend or follow?

The truth is that this is a world of official and unofficial rules. It is easier if you start out knowing what’s what, and this is probably especially important if you’re more of an introvert.

Let’s imagine you already use email, search for information… Continue
