AM I A WRITER?

Last week at my writing group, one of the aspiring authors had a bit of a breakdown. She suffered from what all writers eventually go through. Her faith in her abilities was shaken, the struggle to get her story on paper seemed overwhelming, and the awful question loomed: Am I really a writer?

This rite of passage is crucial. Writing a book initially seems like fun. The potential novelist thinks, “Oh, I have stories to tell, I have a great imagination, I got an 'A' in English class… Continue

What do you think???

What do you think???

I’d like to offer a few thoughts concerning the current political discourse revolving around the health care debate. I’ve often asked myself; how can man/people love God who he/they cannot see, but cannot love the physical being of a man who he can see? If we were about to witness the Second Coming of our Lord, another question would be; what would Jesus say? Believing and knowing that his life was lived in service of the least of thee and also died for our sins… Continue

Secrets of the Amazon Best Seller List

Here's an interesting article about the Amazon best seller list and how it works. I ran across this article because it mentions Andy Kessler, an author and entrepreneur.

I'm Learning More and More About Twitter!

The Twitter mania has a reason for being. That little sucker is
reacting to the melded passions of mankind. I just love to
think I can connect by only 140 words. That's like a getting
a bestseller after only one edit and 3 press releases. And
my followers, making me feel like a rock star, say, "Yes,
you really connected, dear."

How to Get Your Book Published In Five Easy Steps!

Now this is going to be a daring article, because the title makes it sound as if I actually know what I’m talking about here. Well, I do -- to a point. I have been repeatedly published and at pro rates, and I do have three novels under contract, as well. So, I’m not entirely ignorant on this matter. And the reason I felt this article might have value is that I belong to an organization known as Critters.org, and being a member of it has brought something important to my… Continue

The Big Family.

The big family
lots of noise,...and
high on energy,

Ah, the pecking order
not enough chairs
pressure on space.

Struggling to keep ones sanity -
daily routine truly tested,
tolerence running low.

Home-work not completed
who"s turn for the remote,
what about the garbage,

Not enough bath water
as, dinner time becons
night time falls....

This novel is a classic legend of a young hero’s magical journey through a fantasy world where he is tested with incredible challenges that can only stem from the soul of the author’s genuine African culture and vivid imagination.

Impressions From Zermatt-Matterhorn in Switzerland(Satis Shroff)

Sunrise at the Gornergrat 3089 m above sea level and a hearty Continental breakfast in the 3100m high Kulmhotel Gornergrat. What a delightful and unforgettable experience with the panorama of the Alps right in front of you. For people who’ve been to the Himalayas, it’s like breakfast at Lukla or Namche Bazaar. "My Mother's Voice"

Today is my late mother's birthday. The following poem, at the beginning of my novel, 'Half Moon, Full Heart,' is my tribute.

I am often asked how, given my background in engineering (BSEE in another life), I came to write. I respond by blaming/crediting the fact I was born at the right address in a small Texas town: my mother and father lived and loved there. Except for that fact, my life may have been woefully different. My dear mother taught me to read at the age of… Continue

I'll Take AMTRAK Any Day Over Flying; Good Place For Writing While Traveling

While sitting out in our cool back lawn surrounded by daisies, drinking a freshly minted iced tea and reading about Continental’s mistreatment of passengers, it struck me. I could have been on that plane! Talk about lack of customer care! I will NEVER fly Continental again, or any other airlines that does this to customers. Continental should join up with Congress and the private insurance industry. Perfect fit.

I get more writing done when riding on AMTRAK, anyway. I'm flying out to… Continue
