Make a book trailer with great online tool

Who doesn't like a good movie trailer? The jury is still out on whether or not video book trailers (same as movie trailers) are effective, but why not give it a try. It surely couldn't hurt, and if your video is entertaining enough, it could go viral. That would be nice!

To read about making your own book trailer easily and for free (for 30 days, then you have to pay), and to view one that I, a low-tech person, made, read this article at… Continue

David Baldacci Hell's Corner

David Baldacci is one of my top ten favorite authors. I have read his previous nineteen novels, all NYT bestsellers and enjoyed them all to a high degree, so when I got this my fingers were tingling, ready to turn the

pages and enjoy. Here is the synopsis of the novel:’ John Carr, aka Oliver Stone-once the most

skilled assassin his country ever had-stands in Lafayette Park in front of the

White House, perhaps for the last time. The president has personally…

Jay-Z book update: Gucci designed BOOK JACKET for Jay-Z

Guest Post Melody Carlson

Someone recently dubbed me “Queen of the Christmas Storytellers” which is a stretch at best, but an honor just the same. And it’s true, I have “penned” a few Christmas tales—I think I’m up to about eight or

nine novellas now. Ironically I write these stories in the middle of summer.

Usually in July. I’ll be up in my garret writing studio (which used to get

stinking hot until I put in AC) and I’ll be writing about snow falling and hot

cocoa and pine…

What's the back story on the novel "No Justice"?

Some time ago, I served on a jury for the murder trial of a man accused of raping and murdering his girlfriend. While I had known that our justice system had flaws, this was a close-up view of those injustices behind our justice system. We, the jury, were not allowed to hear anything about the plaintiff’s past. His life was a locked box. The victim, however, had no such privacy. The defense attorney gleefully flaunted the victim’s past, including her sexual history from as far back as her teen… Continue

Managing Time When Working Online

Managing time efficiently when marketing on the internet is arguably the single biggest contributing factor for business success online. In addition to the myriad of responsibilities associated with an online business the internet also presents entrepreneurs with an ongoing atmosphere of change. This change in turn leads to new policies and techniques that need to be learned and addressed. When running a business these changes and challenges require the establishment and use of certain time… Continue

Elitist Attitudes

Elitist attitudes toward self-publishing and POD or small press publishing is still rearing it's ugly head. Yes, there are a multitude of writers out there who should take up art or music instead, but they abound in traditional publishing, too. I'm sure many readers have opened a book published by one of the five major publishing houses and closed it after a few pages; badly written, boring, slow, poorly executed plot, editorial errors, ad infinitum, but nonetheless published. On the other…

Romantic Wednesday Chrismas at Harrington's Melody Carlson

I have to admit that the cover is what drew me to Christmas at Harrington's. I absolutely love everything about Christmas. The cover depicts a snowy scene in what appears to be the main street in a small town.

The street is decorated for Christmas; there is a beautifully decked out store

window display. Pictured is a woman wearing what looks like a coat Santa might don,

admiring the window display. It's such a warm and inviting scene; I…

The Sobering Truth About Life As an Alcoholic

Review by Lauren S. Smith

The Sobering Truth: What You Don't Know Can Kill You, written by Jeff Herten, M.D., is, indeed, a sobering book - but also an interesting one - about the author's fight for his life through the devastating effects of alcohol addiction. Herten was a highly functional alcoholic during a time period of over 30 years. He drank heavily, yet was perfectly able to get up, go to work and lead a…

James Patterson Don't Blink

I like to be entertained when I read a novel. People read for many reasons; that is mine. Why do I start off like that? Well it seems just because Patterson sells so

many novels he gets some backlash, being numero uno sometimes comes with a cost.

In this case some of it heavy criticism. Is Don’t

Blink
a work of art? Is it going to be mentioned…

*Free* blogging resources for unemployed writers (pt 1)

Many writers are using the daily discipline of blogging to develop content for the books they will self-publish one day. For unemployed writers, blogging is one of the best ways I know to keep writing, keep working.

Guest Post Daniel Carter author of The Unwanted Trilogy

God VS Science

More times than I can remember people have tried to remove the subject of God from the subject of science. We've been inundated by media, teachers and establishments that the two are exclusive. Well what if they

aren't? What if they are intricately woven together and you couldn't have one

without the other?

The older I get…
