Poem: Vastness of the Kingdom

How can mortals completely envision heaven?

Exploring the fullness of what we’ll see,

will surely take many human lifetimes,

in order to take in… all things of eternity.

Whatever God has prepared for us -

conceived from infinite possibilities,

the sight of its beauty lies beyond our mental grasp,

whose description, exceeds one’s vocabulary.

What is the secret name reserved for…

Book Review: Heaven is for Real (by Todd Burpo with Lynn Vincent)

Heaven is for Real, is a compelling read; most people can devour this book in under three hours, given its straight-forward approach to its storyline. This book is about the true, near-death experience of Todd’s son, Colton, before his fourth birthday. Any parent, who has dealt with significant sicknesses that have…

Poem: Oasis

O Lord, my spirit is weakened and parched,

from trudging through this present wilderness.

Send down on me Your abundant showers,

which are scented with Christ’s righteousness.

Transform the dry soil of my life;

please renew my strength and sustain me;

let my joy bloom once more with Your splendor;

keep my eyesight focused solely on Thee.

Rescue me from the encroachment of…

New to this?

A few months ago, at old job, I wrote some comments on the “at work email system.” It was deliberate and about an issue at work. This was regarding a morning video production that went to every office and worker. One person became very upset because my criticism of the video ……… the video the production came from her team. I know this sounds lame, but I did not know that it was her team that produced the crappy video. Anyway, I issued an apology to her, she said, “don’t say anything more,…

D.L.Coleman, author of the soon to be released "Killer Story", Guest Post: "When I Knew I Wanted To Be A Writer"

     I knew when I was sixteen I wanted to write. I don’t know why, I just did. I’d never even read a novel at that point; too energetic to sit still long enough. I remember coming home from football practice one night in the late ‘50s and lying across my bed with a notebook and pencil. I wrote two sentences, then took the next ten years off to think of a third one. So I came to this writing thing kind of bass akward, not like your typical book-loving library rat.

     In college,…

The Writing of ASH: RETURN OF THE BEAST - Or How I Learned Not To Be Afraid Of The Dark

One of the interesting things about writing a novel is that the process often requires the writer to reach down inside in order to access the storehouse of thoughts, feelings and life experiences that he’s accumulated over the…

Monday was Francis Albert Sinatra's birthday, a day that in my opinion should be declared a national holiday. I thought that it would be a nice tribute if I did a bit of YouTube research and posted my three favorite Sinatra songs to my Facebook page. I had posted the first two and while I was copying number three I began to think about... Cora.

It was the summer of 1967. The Carrier Task Group to which I…

Charlie Wade, author of "A Life in Rags", Guest Post

  Normally in my blog, Spies, lies and pies, I usually write about what I'm currently working on, with occasional book reviews, short stories, music reviews, general middle-aged man rants about youngsters, and amusing pie pictures and links to other sites and blogs.

However, as I've been given…
