My apologies. We have a persistent spammer on this network right now. Whoever it is, they have added about 20 profiles onto this network.
I have suspended all of those profiles, but they are persistent.
They must have some sort of program that creates spamming profiles, or cheap labor. I will continue to suspend any profiles for Gloria or baby or any other name they come up with.
Do not respond to them.
They will go away eventually. They always…

Question: I am a newbie at this to say the least. I got a lucky, fast break into publishing. I want more but can you tell me the advanced method of using your site to promote? How much time do i spend, who do i befriend, who is the most influential member that can get you to retail?
John's Answer: You don't use this site to promote to people. You use it to create relationships with other authors and publishers -- and then use those relationships to create relationships…

Did you know that there is a 10-step system for getting on Oprah? There are strategies that top publicists use to consistently get their clients on the show. I know this may seem impossible for ordinary authors, but once you know the behind-the-scenes scoop on how the top talk show in the country works, it's not as mysterious as it seems.
Many people who have appeared on Oprah have seen their businesses boom, become millionaires or best-selling authors--sometimes overnight. And it…

I ban anyone who is a porn, sex, or other spammer from this network. I want to keep this network clean and usable by those of us who want to talk about books, publishing, marketing books, etc.
If you ever discover someone who joins this network to spam, let me know. I'll ban them as soon as I come to the network. I check at least once a day on most days.

Question from a Book Marketing Network member -- Is trademark and copyright the same thing? I have a unique idea for an inspirational series. Do I just copyright it or does it need a trademark as well?
John's Answer -- Trademark and copyright are not the same thing.
For a book series, you might want to trademark the series if you have a unique and brandable title for the series. E.g. Chicken Soup for the Soul, for Dummies series, etc.
Trademarks protect the…

Book trailers or videos only work if they go viral. Well-made book videos aren't worth a dime unless they are seen. Why pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to create a video that no one sees.
In Lesson 4 of the Ten Million Eyeballs seminar, I teach you how to create viral videos -- videos that are seen by hundreds of thousands or millions of people. Not 45, not 120, not 346 people, but millions.
Check out the Ten Million Eyeballs program at…
