The joy of the Lord is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10

My little Carson was having a bad hair day today. Literally. And it affected a good part of his day. He is letting his hair grow a bit and it's starting to be a little too long for him to control. He went to bed with it wet last night, so when he woke up this morning, it was sticking up all over his head. He looked really cute, for home. But not for Vacation Bible School. I tried to comb it for him, but he didn't want me to mess with it, then he ended up spending about 15 minutes in the bathroom, trying to comb it down himself .

Usually he just ties a bandana around his head and goes on, but someone must have commented on his bandana, because he didn't want to wear it today. But his hair just wasn't cooperating. Finally, he threw on a baseball cap, but I could see he was bummed out. I asked him what was wrong and his reply was so cute, "EVERYTHING!!"

Do you ever feel that way? That everything is mixed up.

I figured he would be fine by this afternoon, but unfortunately he was still bumming. We were on our way to church supper and I kept trying to cheer him up, but he wasn't biting. I felt so sorry for him. Carson has been trying to have a positive attitude, he has a hermit crab riding on how he behaves, treats his brother, etc. Yes, I use a lot of positive reinforcement with the boys. And although he was bummed out, he wasn't being mean to Chase, or fussing at him. He was just being very quiet.

But there was a different little boy sitting next to me on the ride home tonight. He quoted all the Bible verses that he's memorized in VBS to me, as well as sang me two of the songs he's learned. Carson never sings so this was a real treat. I am really not sure what brought him around, I didn't ask him ... but I'd like to think those 3 hours that he spent at church might have something to do with it.

Life can really beat us up sometimes. We can let the cares and concerns of the world overwhelm our lives. Or we can let something as simple as having a bad hair day or a traffic jam or any number of small concerns escalate into major trauma in our lives.

But we have the choice. We can choose to stay in our junk or we can choose to cast our cares on Jesus and focus in on the hope that we have in Him.

I'm really glad Carson chose the latter ...

Father, thank You for changing Carson's heart. Thank You Lord for helping him get over his junk and focus in on something positive, You and Your Word. Thank You Lord Jesus for giving me such a special little boy, help me to be the mother that he needs.

I Love You Jesus.
In Your Name I Pray,
Amen

God Bless You!

Love,
Joyce
