Will I need to seek that next? A crazy thing happened the other night. I was sound asleep, when a nudge woke me up. It was hubby handing me a glass of water (he keeps one on the nightstand by his side of the bed). Half asleep, I took it and baffled by this bizarre gesture, I wanted to ask for an explanation. But, to my shock, he was sound asleep.

With the glass in my hand, I wondered what to do, trying to figure out what was going on. So, I pulled off the covers, went around the bed and returned it to its place. I just know he won’t believe he did this in his sleep, I thought.

I was right. The next morning when I told him, he laughed. I didn’t think it was funny.

Last night, it happened again. He handed me the book he was reading before falling asleep.
Crazy, isn’t it? Hope he won’t start walking in his sleep anytime soon!

Then it hit me. The enemy does the very same thing. When least expected…even in the middle of the night, he nudges us with negative thoughts, hands us bizarre notions of gloom, taps our shoulder with discouragement. Anyone ever experienced this? Without warning, there he is pushing his way into our thoughts, leaving traces of his ghastly path.

But there’s no need to be startled, afraid or shocked. Instead, resist the nudge, strike back, and “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 6:9-12.)

When going to bed, along with your silky PJ’s, also slip on that armor, the protection designed by God to strike back should you feel the enemy’s nudge. He may lurk around, “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
