My memories of that date vary a bit from most. On the first anniversary of that horrific event, we buried our 19-year-old son, our youngest of three. The airplane of horror also crashed into our hearts setting flames of anguish to destroy our world.

So, what do we do with the memories, those that haunt our nights and cast shadow of sadness to our days?

The answer came to me with softness of dawn when erasing a black night. It wasn’t anything profound, deep or even mystical in the least. It came natural and logical.
The answer was logical because it was spoken by the Creator who knew our tragedies, observed our sorrow, and heard our cries.

In the still of a moment, He whispered, “…that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18)

Ah, He doesn’t say when they will be revealed. But I had the answer to that. I caught a glimpse of that glory when I said ‘yes’ to God’s healing. When I recognized my weakness, my inability to face deep pain, too deep for my human comprehension. And I said ‘yes’ to the exchange—my trials for His glory.

The glory that speaks freedom to a heart bound by sadness, and speaks hope for the one who sees darkness. That glory that is available to you, to me and to those who inhale His divine healing and expel the chains of sorrow.

The timing for all this varies for you and for me, the degree of healing is also different, but His power to make it possible remains constant, available and free.

Question for you: Did you say ‘yes’ to the nagging ache? Or ‘yes’ to the glory that begs to be revealed in you?
