The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

I made a few interesting discoveries today trying to open up avenues into my targeted markets. It turns out that the American Library Association (ALA) has national, regional, and state conferences all over the country throughout the year. I am thinking of attending the five in Minnesota and surrounding states this fall—just to see what can be gained from it. Has anyone else tried this? If so, I’d love to hear.

ALA also provides a sophisticated and detailed access to its mailing lists. I am thinking of trying this as well, with the intention of providing not only the book but also an offer to speak at the library. John Kremer’s book 1001 Ways to Market Your Book recommends connecting to www.authorsatyourlibrary.com, but that looks like a resource that is not used by many people. I am trying it. Again, anyone else’s experience would be helpful.

Our autumn efforts are going to focus regionally, where the costs can be most easily controlled while testing these tactics.
