The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

172 and Counting ... Invite More Friends!

I'm back from the CIPA Conference. A great weekend. Lots of good people. I've invited them to join the network. We'll see who joins in the next week.

I am enjoying this network and adding lots of new friends. Please take time to add a blog post at some point and add some content to your personal page so we can get to know each other. I've been going around to different people's pages and seeing what they are doing. It's really nice to see all the pictures and finally put a face to some of the people I've corresponded with for years.

Also take the opportunity to learn from some of the others on this network. The fellow (Hup) who wrote MySpace for Dummies is here and willing to share info about MySpace. Steve Weber, author of Plug Your Book (all about online marketing) is also part of the network. And, of course, there's me. Plus Jordan McAuley, Kim Dushinski, Jim Donovan, Nate Booth, Peter Johnson, and lots of other people who are more than willing to share their experience. Take advantage of them, but also contribute your own stories.

The CIPA conference was excellent. It was fun listening to John speak and just gathering ideas for the promotion of books. I enjoyed it and made a number of new friends.

One of the ideas that John mentioned was this ning site. It seems that almost nobody was aware of it. I started my own ning site and am gathering friends. What a good idea. Thanks John.

I'm not sure if there is any difference between being a friend and just being a member other than simply connecting with other members.

Hi everybody from a retired Swedish journalist. I am cautiously feeling my way around this space and will try to contribute something of value. Or something... I have writen and co-written a few books in Swedish on technical matters (cars, mopeds, computers) and presently working on a book in English. Will blog on its progress. Until later.

One point of clarification... folks have been asking me to be a "friend" within this group. What is the difference between being friends with someone within this group vs just a member of the group?

In any case, thanks for creating this space. Great start. Nice energy. A high level of participation already. Well done!
