This book tells the story of a man and his love affair with mining. Complete with mining photos, historical mining documents, maps and many stories about this small owner operated mine in the spectacular Colorado Rocky Mountains, this book preserves a unique part of Colorado history and connects three generations together.

The Orphan Boy, A Love Affair with Mining

The story of the Orphan Boy Mine began in the 1880's when the American West was young. These gold rush days were Colorado's Glory Days when a 100,000 people came seeking their fortunes in the mineral rich Colorado Rocky Mountains. Their efforts can still be seen in the many small mine dumps that dot virtually every high peak in the state.

One of these small mines, the Orphan Boy, was re-opened and operated by my Dad, a member of "The Greatest Generation" after World War II. This book tells the story of his "Love Affair with Mining."

These mines, just like the famed Colorado ghost towns, all have a story to tell. This is the story of one such mine and the lives that it impacted.

The Concept of Social Media

Social media websites evolved from ideas developed in the mid 1990s. Classmate.com introduced the idea of friends on the internet in 1995. People organized and formed ad hoc discussion groups, which became blogs. In less than 10 years the number of blogs on the internet exploded into the hundreds of millions. People with similar ideas, communicating on the internet, are the basis for social networks and social media websites.

Social media is all about people sharing opinions and… Continue
