The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

I have marketed to libraries through email and fax before. But not a whole lot came of it, though I did get orders through library distributors. The first time I received a purchase order and I was a bit stupified and phoned them right away to ask what it was. It looked odd because it didn't have prices. This was on the first book we had ever published so that was great but still, I asked if I had to give a discount. They said no. They mark up the books they buy for libraries. So ever since then when I get an order no matter what the PO says, I just send it through and charge one hundred percent.

Long story short, I read one of the comments from someone here who had sent away by email a special if the library ordered through him. He says that few did order from him but that he did get orders.

So I took this idea and ran with it. I'm so proud because yesterday the first library took me up on the special. Now, I have a relationship with one of the people at the library and I pointed out to her that anytime she wanted any of our novels, we'd give her a percentage off no matter what.

Total win-win and I'm so happy someone took the sales flyer to heart.
