A child is born into this world without any knowledge of how this world operates. Children are dependent on their parental figures or caregivers for the sustainment of life. Everything a child will learn about this world is taught to them by another human being. Have you ever heard the term you can’t walk a mile in my shoes? The truth is we are all walking a mile in somebody else’s shoes because our lives are a reflection of the people that influence us the most. Everything that we are to become in life is learned from the people that we call role models, mentors, teacher, boss, mother, father etc. If heaven is our ultimate goal then we must all walk in the shoes of Jesus Christ.
Believe it or not Jesus has commanded us to follow in his footsteps and journey through life as he has. Jesus Christ is more than a mentor or role model he is our Lord and he wants us all to look up to him. What an amazing journey it is to be counted worthy to follow in the footsteps of Christ but please count the cost before doing so. Jesus Christ performed many miracles; he fed the hungry, healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, and even cast out demons. Jesus Christ blessed the people who entered into his presence and many people loved him for it. Never forget that Jesus was and still is hated by many and the path to his crucifixion was very bloody.
Jesus Christ was spit upon, beaten until his inner flesh and bones were exposed, and people shouted all sorts of mockeries at him. Jesus had many enemies and in his final days upon earth he was crucified. Imagine people whom you are willing to give your life for making fun of your mother, calling you a fraud, and even worst saying you were possessed with demons. How much this must have hurt Christ but he continued on his journey. Jesus has asked each and every one of us to walk that journey even at the risk of our family rejecting us. The burden of the cross is real and in Jesus final moments a man named Simon from Cyrene (Libya) was asked to physically follow Jesus Christ and carry the cross (Luke 23:26). Simon would follow Jesus carrying the burden of the cross as crowds of people spit, threw items, and shouted hateful words at Jesus. Simon had to endure the same railings as he walked behind a bloody Christ. Simon would walk across the bloody trail that Jesus would leave behind as blood dripped from his beaten body and all the hate Jesus endured Simon was right behind him. The only way that we can follow in Jesus footsteps is to love him more than anything on this earth and commit to him even through rough times. If you want to get to heaven you must walk in the shoes of Christ.-Amen
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.-Matthew 16:24
