Thanks for the invite John. I look forward to networking and possibly working together with you someday. Aside from that though, I look forward to getting to know you...my new friend.
John, I've been receiving your newsletters for quite some time. Love them. For me they give the most content for what I'm doing than anyone else I subscribe to. Thanks for the excellent work. Victoria

Hi John!
I met you at the CIPA conference where you recommended joining your Ning network. I am glad I have finally done it. What a resource! Thanks for putting it together.

What a great place to meet fellow authors, thanks, John. I've encouraged people to sign up for your newsletters, and now you have a central location where they can network among themselves/ourselves. Good job!
I'm still trying to figure out how this thing works! I sent you a reply, but it apparently didn't leave MY page, so I don't know if you were notified! So here it is, a rerun from yesterday afternoon:
Hey, John. You probably don't recognize me, but I was at your NM Book Coop talk in Albuquerque on Friday. From that perspective, your guess on the photo backdrop was a good one. Alas, you're wrong! The photo was taken at sunset at Venice Beach, California. Thanks for comment on the book. Yours is a great help in getting it out there.
Greg . . . I hope my book sells everywhere in China, including in back alleys, etc. I don't really mind if people steal it and give it away there. I don't have a market there myself. Never plan to. I make enough here. So, the better known I get to be in China, the more likely someone will invite me to speak there and pay my travel expenses. That's the only way I'll ever make it to China since my wife won't let me travel just for pleasure (when she can't come because of her chemical sensitivity).
Delighted to have you on our friendship list, John. You've been most helpful and generous with your advice in the past, and it's been much appreciated.
Hello John,
I read in a newsletter about an author who had a couple of representatives to pitch her book to libraries - this is a new area for me. Can you direct me to some information on obtaining reps?
The day after your book is translated into Chinese it will be sold in back alleys, streetcorners, night markets and 'reputable' bookstores across China. It will be many years until such rampant copyright piracy disappears.
I am pushing to have my "Wearing Chinese Glasses" translated and "Wearing Western Glasses" finished ASAP as I want their availability to help build my reputation so I can more easily sell seminars and speeches. If I make any money from actual book sales it will be a bonus, and not something I am counting on.
Please let me know though if there are any questions you might have about the Chinese Asian universe. I don't know everything, no one does, but I do have a more than a few wrinkles on my China hand.
Hey John,
Thanks for all the great info you have put out in various forms and places!
A question for you ---
Seems like the subject of how Amazon rankings are created is getting about as messy as how Google rankings are created. Where can I get current info about how Amazon rankings are created? I've heard that if one person purchases 10 or more books, AMazon doesn't "count" the sale in its rankings. Then I heard that anything more than 1 copy at a time doesn't count. Since some folks sort the AMazon listings by rank before they decide to buy an unknown book, I'd like my ranking to reflect my actual sales. If multiple book sales don't "count," I'd prefer to drive quantity sales (corporate clients, speaking audiences, etc.) through my own web site. But my first choice is for all my sales to affect my rankings.
You were right--the cover on my Book Proposals That Sell was too large--but I didn't know how to make it smaller. Tonight I figured out how to cut it back. Thank you for the comment--that stirred my action.
BTW, I heard your talk recently at Mega Book Marketing University 2006--in Orlando. You were terrific. Just know those messages live on and others are listening--like me--and learning. Thank you and keep up the good work.
HI!
I too just signed o today and received numerous invites..and found people who live near me..too great.Appreciate receiving your newsletter..quite a while now.
I just signed on this morning and already got responses from about 10 people who want to be my friend. There is no way that I can start corresponding with a whole list of new friends. I spend too many hours at the computer as it is. I hate to ignore their requests, but I am afraid that is just what I am going to have to do.
I am so sorry.
Very best,
Lois

I would be very surprised if Amazon did not count every sale, including multiple sales. I'm quite sure they do.

Thanks for the invite. Looks to be a great site, er, network you've started. I will know more once the wet behind my ears dries.
