The Book Marketing Network

For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers

In case you don't know about this- I think a great book marketing outlet

A while back, someone here suggested seeing if we could all help each other by adding reviews to our respective books on Amazon or somewhere online. I thought I could get Judi Lake to take on the monkey of figuring out how to do it, but she's smarter than that:-) It may be way too cumbersome to work, however, this morning, I happened to read the Southern Review of Books newsletter and saw a piece about Amazon investing in a site named "Shelfari" I went there and spent a couple of hours in it bulilding my page and adding my personal reading list and, of course, my own boooks:-) I was able to see who had books I had listed and connect with them too and people they had links from. Take a look: http://www.shelfari.com/jimdonovan One of the features, aside from connecting to all sorts of people - think "Myspace" for books - is that you can add opinions to books. So . . . if anyone here has read either of my books listed there, liked them, and would like to add an opinion, I'd surely appreciate it. If we all do that for the books we've read by other members and connect there too, we can create more awareness of our respective books. Any thoughts? Jim

I checked shelfari out and referred some authors I am working with to it -- I think its a good opportunity, just as this site is for authors -- I haven't quite figured this network out as I have seen a few members post some very tangible opportunities that can very well be a 'win-win' for all but little or no responses -- I truly think that if these networks merged together, brainstormed and committted themselves to some worthwhile campaigns it could be amazing -- there was one interesting blog put up today by Steve Kennedy about 'detaching from the outcome'... sometimes opportunies come from the strangest places --
