Marlayne, I'm not an author, *just* an indexer, so my work helps others market their books more efficiently. Adding an index enhances a non-fiction text, providing more respect by giving it the sheen of a serious book instead of a lightweight quicky job. Indexes allows prospective purchasers to decide if it's the right book for them, helping to boost sales. Last but not least, libraries (and many book stores) don't care to purchase non-fiction books without indexes. (Hmm, I guess this sounded like a *commercial* too - oops!)

Hi Sunnie - I realize that. I would probably just prefer to talk one on one with people.

Hi Rose! Well thank you! It's been out for about a year and to my utter delight I am discovering that book stores are reordering it and people are referring it to others. I'll be exhibiting at a Home Schooling Convention this summer and participating in a huge concert event as 1 of 15 authors so God is still bringing opportunities my way. What do you do to market your book?

They don't HAVE to be commercials! It's up to you and what you want to post. I've been posting blogs that have nothing to do with me, but much to do with the writing community and especially marketing.

These sites are a great way to pass useful info and keep in contact with a wide range of writers. If I tried to send individual messages to every one of my friends on this list, I'd never get any writing done!

Hi again Marlayne,
Just went to your FB page and read about your book. "The Victor" sounds fabulous!

Hi Rose - I'm on a lot of Nings and the all seem to be one-way commercial/conversations. I hardly do much on them anymore. I have found Facebook to be a great way to make real friends and have great conversations as well and somewhere in the process of making new friends, the books will come up. I'm more interested in making friends than I am in just shooting my mouth off about my book.

Hi Marlayne,
It depends on which Ning. There are some w/mean bullies who *shout* at each other about self-publishing - I think I'd rather have the commercials! Then, there are some where people do talk, but then it feels like we're not getting *real* networking done and we're more on the edge of socializing.

Do you belong to any NIng groups that are halfway decent? Sometimes all it takes is for a couple of charismatic and compassionate people to get the ball rolling and make it seem like real communicating about a meaningful topic instead of just ads to each other.....

Why is it that almost every post I read on these Nings sounds like nonstop commercials? Doesn't anyone talk to each other anymore?
