Something About Me and My Book:
I majored in art before getting a BA degree in Zoology in 1974. THE DOC novel is soon to be out IN PRINT published by Black Opal Books. A new ebook version will be available then also. For many who have wanted it in print form in the past I hope will hang in there. There will be a new cover also. FOR THOU ART WITH ME was the first published novel. It's a World War II flashback story, based on war stories heard over the years in the 1950's and from later research. There's more information on my website.

Miss Darla book released

Knowing that there is a different audience out there, than was there ten years ago, a whole generation of non-print readers, it is time the 2005 print only version of this World War II story of Miss Darla became an ebook. Miss Darla is the first of two ebooks, from the original novel For Thou Art With Me, available for the first time in digital format.…

Author Earnings Report

Triggered Book Study 3 could have been this title.  Now I keep getting these things. For those of you who think all authors are raking in the cash, you may have cause to reflect on the reality of the publisher percentages. This came from another conversation with science-fiction author John Daulton. Turns out it is also another Hugh Howey comment. But, enough of the chatter, just hop over to the 2015 Author Earnings Report:…

The Posse

I’m in a posse. I have been for a while. We are lead by our author friend Sunny Frazier. We first met at an author event at Chowchilla Library. I am not sure if the “The Posse” was formed at that time or not until later. Somehow I was in. We have a main concept of using some sort of clout with improving our promotions and marketing, as well as entertaining one another.

One of those tools is blogging. For example we were referred to another blog and author by Anne R.…

Hello, Tim, and thank you for your kind comment. I apologize for the delay in responding; I need to make sure I get back to this site more often. I appreciate the welcome and support!

I couldn't stay in Vegas a minute longer. By the end of the PSWA conference, my lips were dry & cracked, my eyes a mess. Is it the smoke in the casinos or the filtered air. I never left the hotel so I know it wasn't the sun.
I'm heading to Atlanta, expecting muggy and humid. What a summer so far. And here in the Valley, I can't even swim because my pool hasn't warmed up. Coolest June ever!

Oh, sorry. No, I meant she is working on contest entries. I thought you had sent the manuscript as a cold read. Good luck in the contest!

Tim, I roomed with Billie at the Vegas Police Writer's conference. My understanding is she is temporarily not looking at manuscripts while she looks at entries for the three contests Oak Tree Press puts on. Three winners will be considered for publication. I was not aware of this information when we last communicated.

Tim,
I just talked to Billie at Oak Tree. She's swamped right now and behind on the manuscripts. She has several books coming out, so it might be a wait. She's also got some help and has to train the woman.

I've offered to vet the manuscripts and ask the tough marketing questions. You might want to get together a marketing plan and address specifics like who are your media contacts, what is your range of promotion, transportation to events, money for conferences and conventions, health (that's a big one!), visibility on the Internet and in the community, name recognition. The first year is the hardest to get established, but you've already got a book out.

These are things you can work on now while you wait. You're going to need a plan no matter where you pitch your book.

Hello Tim,

Delray Beach is next to Boca Raton. Boca is 15 miles or so north of Ft. Lauderdale. Very nice area. Palm city is about an hour north I think. I am still trying to figure out the pictures and site. It is a good site. I went to a book signing here with Suzy Welch. She has written the book 10-10-10. Very good book. I also was lucky enough to meet Jack Welch. He is a best selling author and very nice guy. I t was great to chat with them. They already had a copy of PurpleUmpkin so they got a chance to meet me also. The amazing book industry. Best always.

Mike
