I recently interviewed author Jake Halpern about how he made his book, Fame Junkies, a best seller. Jake has appeared on the Today Show, 20/20, CNN, Fox and Friends, and more. His book has been featured in Newsweek, Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, USA Today, and more.

Here's what Jake told me:

I think there is the sense authors have: just… Continue

Why Stephen King Is Raging Mad...

Stephen King is raging mad. And that's not a good thing, since his mind conjures up some of the most evil things a man can do on a daily basis.

This time he's mad about a book he discovered -- "Fieldwork" -- that's apparently really good but no one wants to buy.

Here's what he says in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly that's a good lesson for all of us in publishing:

"The good news: it's a great story. If this is such a good read, what's the bad news? That's… Continue

Interesting Statistics

Did you know that there are 200,000 books published annually in this country, but the average reader only hears about .5% of them?

That's according to Sara Nelson of Publishers Weekly, who says "Writers need to take care of themselves and do whatever is necessary to promote themselves and their books."

In a speech she recently gave about careers in publishing to students at Washington and Lee University, Lisa told them, "The book…

Hi Jordan

It looks like you might be able to either profit by or contribute to my new Self Publishing group here on BMN.
Please take a look, we're trying to build it into a resource for writers who prefer to be their own publisher.

Hello –
How’s the writing going? Just thought I’d pass along
some websites you might be interested in.
http://www.joafulkerson.com where you can read the
first chapter of FOR LOVE OF TEDDY. This is the
story of a high school senior who takes a stand against drug
dealers…and WINS. It’s the first of several I plan to write to
reach out to at risk kids and teens who might not have
anywhere else to turn when faced with crises in their lives.
