For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers
I have never written a blog before, but it seems that most authors do, so I am jumping on the bandwagon! As a dislocated teacher I am trying once and for all to make the writing thing work as a career. Online marketing is unknown territory to me, but I understand that it has become essential to book marketing. (And I know almost nothing about regular marketing, given that I have five books and have made almost nothing in royalties.) I hope to learn some tricks of the trade from other…

Never pay to be a guest blogger on any other blog. Guest means guest. Guests don't pay to eat if invited as a guest. It's just wrong.
If a blogger wants you to pay to guest blog post on their blog, they better be ranked in the top 200 of Alexa. At least.
If any member of this network ask you to pay to guest post on their blog, refuse them. It's not right. This network is designed for people to trade blog posts or simply to offer guest openings to others.
The same is true…

Continuing to showcase queries that got agents and publishers interested in my work over the years, when there was a publishing industry willing to take on new writers (ha ha), here is the query that got the head of Random House Children’s Division (Jim Thomas) interested in AFTER. It was submitted by my agent at the time and was given a read in less than forty-eight hours. This is his exact reply.
“Thanks for the look at AFTER. There’s a lot I like about it. It’s quite inventive,…

So many Christians are trying to get God’s spirit to line up with their flesh, when God is trying to get your flesh to line up with His spirit.

Hello Trestle fans! My name is Lisa Taylor, and I’m one of those starving artist types; a writer, to be precise. Have I always, since my tiny little brain first recognized a word, wanted to be a writer? Heck no. In fact, a couple years ago I was about as far on the other end of the spectrum as I could get.
Out of high school, I went to college at the United States…

Lost
Military secrets, corruption, greed, international intrigue; tenderness, human frailty, devotion, and loyalty. All of these describe Lost by E.G. Lewis. A wide and varied cast of characters are intricately woven together in this very satisfying mystery that is a follow up to Promises. However, Lost totally stands on its own two feet, and although some characters from the first book make an appearance, it is not necessary to read book one in order to enjoy…

We've all heard the expression "Opposites Attract", and I guess it must be true. Take my wife and me. We could not possibly be more polar opposites in so many areas. In fact, the areas of similarity are virtually miniscule, and yet we just celebrated our twelfth anniversary!
I am a man who likes order; she is perfectly comfortable with a desk that looks like a dumpster was overturned on it. I prefer to read the Sports section first on Sunday, while she goes straight for the comics.…

Just another example of how the internet has changed authors and the exposure that their books are capable of receiving with a little marketing and promotion. Here is a review and blurb about me that appeared in Italy. I couldn’t even read it and had to have my step-daughter translate it for me. This was a totally unsolicited article and I thank the writer for it. Also, now that it’s over, the free book promo on Kindle is resulting in paid sales. Quite a few I might add. The way I understand…
