For book/ebook authors, publishers, & self-publishers
February 21, 2015
I’m taking more faltering steps into self-publishing as the real truth behind it all begins to unravel. Until now I have not needed to get too involved because others have done the work for me. But like the proverbial swan gliding around on the surface of the water; the marketing feet are going nineteen to the dozen beneath it all while above the surface all is calm and under control. Writing books and having them published by professionals is fine. Going into…

The Importance of an Internet Presence
"Look at those thousands of books!" I said to a fellow author while visiting a book store. What's an author to do? Whether you self-published or traditionally published, your book has to get in front of the reading and book buying public. Today it's the Internet. And I am so happy to have found Theodocia at http://www.coldcoffeecafe.com. She has really helped me to get my books out there on…

Hello Self-Publisher!
I am a newbie on this forum. I’m looking for some insights for something I’m working on.
Is anyone struggling with self-publishing on the Internet right now?
I'm looking into understanding and helping authors who want to self-publish on Amazon, Create Space, iUniverse or any other platform get past the book production stage and launch their books.
If you've finished your manuscript, however,…

I have attended many conferences where speakers have repeated this advice. Write what you know.
I believe there is some truth in that statement. It's also what you feel most comfortable doing. Another good idea is to hang your story line, especially for children, on a historical peg. That gives you a good platform to begin writing. One of the stories I wrote years ago for Children's Friend magazine was from a historical tidbit about how George Washington's soldiers…

Tell me about yourself.
I live in Auckland, New Zealand with my two dogs. Although I have had training in Beauty and Spa therapy, editing, journalism, animal behavior and photography, criminology and counselling; my main interest lies in writing novels which allows me to explore and learn about other eras and countries, creating characters that have deep rooted flaws, but uses those to achieve the end goal.
As an author of…

London, 1996
“Mummy, mummy, wake up! Please don’t leave me.” A dark shadow appeared, as a man
advanced towards her.
“Mummy’s not going to wake up, but Daddy will look after you.”
“Please don’t hurt me, I’ll be good. I promise.”
An arm went around the child, and darkness fell.

I seem to be increasing my work load simply by looking into ways of promoting and marketing my books. Despite the ease with which the methods are claimed to be, and that no technical knowledge is required, I find myself scratching my head and wondering what I must do next; or how do I prepare a campaign and list of subsrcibers for Mail Chimp. Do I really need e-pub, mobi and pdf files ready to distribute to those on my subscriber list should they ask? And…

From Devotional "Shh! God Is Trying To Tell You Something"
Each day, you look in your mirror and see a reflection of yourself, oftentimes you don’t see the beauty I’ve imparted into your life. You see only the negative things about yourself, the wrinkles, and imperfections. You don’t take…
