I have not let moss grow under my feet since my acceptance for publication at Enspiren Press. Although having Avenging Angel accepted has meant as much to me as the birth of my children (so you know it means a TON), I know that I must continue to evolve and grow and feed the hunger of the masses of fans that I am accumulating.
So I am proud to announce the soon-to-be released short story, THE MASK, will be out in the Spring issue of http://www.mouthfullofbullets.com- Mouthfull of…

2. Pay Attention. Inspiration is a goofy thing. You never know when or from where it will come at you. I can also tell you, from my experience, it is usually subtle. One day a few years ago I was sitting in the parking lot of a car repair shop along the lake just south of Buffalo, NY, on a typically grey January day, waiting for my wife’s cousin to drop off her car and take her back to our house. As we drove home, Lake Erie was an expanse of grey snow and…

For those that don’t know me, and those that are getting to know me, my family is the one thing in my life that means everything. Of course, my wife and kids are precious, but my extended family is the source of who I am and how I look at life in general. My Uncle Bob, my Dad’s brother, recently sent me an Email and link I would like to share with everyone. As a "day job", I am a physical therapist in a nursing home. I am honored and priveleged everyday to work with some of the finest…

Derrick Sweat Returns; this time he comfronts the mobster Johnny Macaroni, who also moonlights as mild-mannered Harold Rinehart. The mobster masterminded five in-air helicopter robberies in broad daylight. Suddenly there is a freak snowstorm in the middle of June catching everyone off guard. Soon the mobster's daughter is killed by a hurricane in the Caribbean and now he holds the National Weather Service Hostage. Also, the Nation is under harsh budget cuts across the board. Johnny takes his…

Borders Group Inc. has decided you can sell a book by its cover.
In a radical move aimed at jump-starting sales, the nation's second-largest book retailer is sharply increasing the number of titles it displays on shelves with the covers face-out.
As you can image this is really good news attached to really serious consequences.
Everyone knows books face out draw more attention and sell more copies. Cereal companies and grocery stores figured that out decades…

Most people who know me also know how much I enjoy reading mysteries (and now writing them). I have several "favorite" authors in the mystery/suspense/detective genre, and one is William Bernhardt. I've had the honor of meeting Bill at several writing functions since he is a fellow Oklahoman, and he's not only a good writer, but he was nice enough to allow me to interview him.
I have the information in hand and am in the process of writing the interview. My way isn't necessarily the…

As I inch closer to my publication date (20 days and counting) I've been thinking about the idea of pen names. I wonder how many of my writer friends had already chosen a pen name before they finished their novels. I know I dreamt about this for years. I was the book nerd version of the girl who, instead of scribbling her imaginary married name on her Charlies' Angels pocket folder, wrote various versions of a nom de plume. We won't go into the various combinations I wrote down. Suffice it to…

What an incredible event!
Just getting back to the office full speed and am having a ball going through all of these wonderful new book proposals from brilliant, like minded authors.
The networking and the connections were just incredible. I had lunch with a movie producer, dinner with a Bishop and Breakfast with a Billionaire. And that was just the first day!
I'll keep you posted on future events, but wow, this was one not to miss!

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – As one of Austin Peay State University’s preinaugural activities, author Allen Wier will read from his latest novel, “Tehano,” at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 18 in Gentry Auditorium, Kimbrough Building. A reception and book signing will follow.
“’Tehano’ is a book with an amazing scope, telling the story of the settling of the West as it took place in Texas. It’s rich and tough and gritty,” said Professor of English Barry Kitterman.
“I don’t think of the…
