April 2011 Blog Posts (202)

Whaddya gotta do to publicise a book these days?

Because I'm not yet the rich and famous writer I want to be, I have to do some paid work outside the home.  That paid work, dear blog browser, is as a community carer.  Anyway, I thought one of my clients (an 87 year old woman to whom I give social support) might be interested to see my books.  She's an amazing lady - well spoken, all her faculties etc.  Anyway, she said she would be very interested in reading 'Abernethy', so I will order it from the publishers on Monday for her (she won't…

Digital short Saturday B.R. Stateham A Dish Served Cold/Two tales of Blood and Mayhem

This series has quickly become one of my favorites, The Call Me Smitty Series. I just love the hard core, hard-boiled hit man that can be equal parts bad and compassionate. B.R. Stateham has composed a character that I think is going to stand the test of time. Basically I can’t say enough good things about the series from A to Z on this, I just can’t!  This is a novella so it is a bit longer in length then its predecessors, which is an added bonus for us fans of this intense series. If I…

From the riotously humorous to the deeply poignant, Patricia covers the emotional terrain with her witty personality unfurled and a display of craft that, like a dancer, seems so effortless. – Brenda J. Gannam, Haiku Society of America…

Teeth Timothy James Dean

Just to get to this first: Thanks to my Goodread’s friend Steven; he was nice enough to send me this novel to read. He basically told me he thought this novel was so much fun, that he was willing to put his hard earned money to use and UPS this rip roaring ride of a novel to me. Kudos, props and thanks again my friend. I took one look at this novel, shook my head a few times, said, “Really?” a few times, and then dove into it not really knowing what to expect out of it. Let’s get…

When it's To Late J. Evan Johnson

Brutal honesty: That is what J. Evan Johnson delivers in this novel. If you are not prepared for some naked raw emotions, festering needs, issues with self-discovery and being true to one self, then don’t grab this novel. If you are in need of introspective thought, a bit of soul searching and making a laundry list of emotional wants and needs then here you go. Is the novel really all that deep and complex? No I read it , that should clue you in on some of it, but it does get to the point…

Improvised Digital short Story Blood Bond vs. Burn It!

Talk about intensity, competitiveness, and fun, that was just the beginning of the day for me as I gave each team the three words that were going to spark eight authors into action. They jammed off of each other’s work like jazz musicians or rockers going to it trying to outdo each other. It was fun sending the next piece to all involved; I enjoyed the comments I was receiving from the other participants as they were reading through not just their own piece but the next one that was played…

Around the Globe with STACY JUBA

Spring has not quite sprung, at least with constantly warm temperatures. This morning is rainy and cold. No matter, though as author Stacy Juba and I are off in my transporter to Disney World! We're waiting with snacks and drinks in hand along Main Street waiting for the parade to start.

Stacy is the author of the mystery novels Twenty-Five Years Ago Today and Sink or Swim (Mainly Murder Press), as well as the patriotic children’s picture book The Flag Keeper. Her young adult… Continue

Days Out In The Country

In the early 1960’s I was part of a team of young people who wanted to see change.  The team, by the way, was call Ribbons of Faith (RoF) cut me some slack; it seemed like a cool name at the time. We planned to change the world! I don’t know about everyone else, but I still do.

Changing the world can be laborious, and sometimes just persuading people to come and meet ‘the best friend you could ever have’ is harder that you expect.

One of the team members, John Moore, became…

Borislava Borissova The Starlight Prince

Looking for something interesting and unique? Maybe something a bit out of the norm, possibly to share with your children? Okay I have found something for you then. Check out what is between the covers on this one:

“A young boy lived alone on his tiny planet at the end of the Sagittarius galaxy. On his trips to other celestial spheres, he had seen that there were no lonely stars in the universe and even the most powerful one, the sun in the neighbouring Milky Way galaxy, had a friend…
