The Rewards of Writing

The rewards of writing . . . And the Whippoorwill Sang

By

Micki Peluso

While writing the book was something I had sworn to do as a promise to the one I lost, it was both blessing and bane. There were times when I laughed and times when I cried—just like my readers. As some of you know, many supernatural events happened as I finished the book. Parts of the book seemed written by someone other than me and while I was happy and relieved to…

Blast From The Past Joseph Finder Vanished

Last Sunday, I shared with you a series of novels I thought would make you laugh and cringe at the same time. This week I have a novel for you that have recently been released in paperback, Joseph Finder’s Vanished. To

say I am a fan is an understatement. I have read all his novels and always look

forward to the next. So, if you wish, click off here, thinking I am a homer, see

you tomorrow, maybe. Me being the

Yankees fan I was raised to be, always can…

Breathless -- a Teen book that seems to be appealing to ages 9 - 80 so far!

When I wrote my new book, Breathless, I was aiming at the female teen and early 20's market -- the ones so loyal to books like Twilight and Vampire Diaries. I was hoping, that like Twilight, it would have "crossover" appeal to their moms as well. Breathless has only been on sale for about a week now, and in addition to some nice reactions from a few teens, already I have very positive feedback from several women in their late 30's or early 40's, and even from an 80-year-old woman and a…

I've been looking online at local libraries and book clubs to plug my new novel 'Abernethy' - young adult fiction. Not back from the printer yet. But got to get that ball rolling, hey? My new novel is my first foray into Young Adult, and I've enjoyed it. Am also in the process of organising a launch - will probably have it at my local art gallery as the library is undergoing major renos. Normally, I'm a satirist, but I enjoyed writing 'Abernethy'. The titular character is a beagle, who was…

Digital Short Saturday Carla René Zen in the Art Of Absurdity

Please before you come after me to explain how this fits into the category of digital shorts, it’s very simple. Carla Rene has put together a novel of short digital shorts that in total has a word count of

16,580 words. I am not going to go into each and every short she has. Instead I

am going to focus on one, the cute little diddy she put together that has the

childhood reading characters, Dick & Jane, and Jack & Jill in a race. I

like the…

Digital Short Saturday True Stories Vincent Zandri

I find that many things are true in this world, one of which is that I have quickly become a big fan of Zandri’s. He penned another digital short available from StoneHouse Ink- True Stories. The digital short is 4560

words of pure emotion; I was totally wiped out when I was done reading it. The

naked emotion he is able to convey in his brief narrative is nothing short of

amazing.

The cover has…

'Tilly's Tale', Thinking Christmas?

Please forgive the shameless plug, but, with Christmas about to loom large in everyone's thoughts, I'd like to drop in a quick plug for my award-winning children's book, Tilly's Tale, written under my Harry Porter pseudonym. Now, when I say childrens' book, I have to admit that it was written in such a style as to appeal to 'kids' from 8 -99, and it appears as many adults as children have bought it and enjoyed it.… Continue

Digital Short Saturday Jason McIntyre Road Markers

Saturday is upon us and here we go again, Digital Short Saturday. Each week that I investigate this new tool authors are using to help us see into their creative process, the more I am getting sucked into the

enjoyment of it. I happened upon this digital short because I became friends of

the author on Goodreads. We exchanged messages and he said as a side note, I

have some novels written but I don’t know if they are your thing, having

checked out my…

Eye on New Orleans: Katrina's Other Orphans

As we continue our Hooked on the Book campaign, we would like to take the time to honor yet another category of Louisiana residents -- our four-legged friends. During Hurricane Katrina many animals were lost and separated from their families. Thanks to the effort of the Louisiana SPCA, many were able to be reunited with their original families, while others were placed in new loving homes.

As we approach the fifth anniversary of Katrina, I am… Continue
