Guest Post: Doug Lucas - Why He Writes

Doug Lucas, author of The Flats Teacher's Test, is my guest today with a post about why he wrote a book that one reviewer called "an explosive story...crossing the boundaries...behind the doors of the educational system". To all my teacher friends and parents, this may be worth your time.

The Flats Teacher's Test is ONLY $4.99 for Kindle (or FREE for Prime users) and you can get it here - …

Records may break

What a difference a month makes for my sales. From a lackluster July to a booming August. Sales of DROP OUT have skyrocketed over the last week as well as my other adult books. Right now I’m on par to break my all time sales month of last January. Strangely though, my sci-fi/fantasy books are not selling well this month. Perhaps, kids are gearing up for school and losing interest in spending their ‘endless summer’ reading fiction. I don’t know. I do know that more and more people are buying…

Misguided Sensitivity - Philip Nork, Author

Misguided Sensitivity – Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat; Think With Your Taste Buds; A Book and A Dish

In the 1960’s the typical family consisted of a stay-at-home mother, a working father, and some kids.  As you grew up you were exposed to an equal amount of boy things and girl things.  In my world that never happened.  We…

Article #1 Give Yourself You!

It was a Monday and all the girls at the office were lunching together. Their conversations usually consist of the latest fashion and makeup trends, what they get up to over the weekend and most famously sex and relationships!!

I couldn’t help but over hear and notice that over the past few weeks  the same topic cropping up in their conversations…. ‘Why is it so hard…

Woman Vs Womaniser - Amazon review

WOW!!!!!! Is what came to mind as I came to the end of this book.

I was wowed by the fact that somehow this author's (J C Johnson) writing ability managed to entrance me and transport me into his world as a womaniser. In the world he recreated I was able to witness his playboy antics, which, were at points painfully honest, very detailed and a real eye opener. He made it a point to highlight where we, and by this I mean Women kind, are going wrong with what we believe we should…

Saying goodbye

As I say goodbye to KDP Select, I must say that it has been a good ride. My last two free promotions yielded a combined 5,764 books given away that resulted in a surge of paid sales that is still running with momentum. I am now down to the wire with giveaways because I only have one book left that still has promotion days and only two others that are still on KDP Select, and they are about to expire. One the flip side, Smashwords just announced a huge deal with libraries that will allow…

Chi-Chi and Gitch

Alot of people ask me about these two characters in my novel, "The Long Road from Perdition".  Namely, if these two personalities really exist.  I have to say though, that I have known some guys that gave me inspiration for their personalities.  Go to any gay bar and you will likely see waitstaff that could easily be Gitch or Chi-Chi.…

Perfect Summer Read: Love Story that Breathes Life into the Bush

Kathleen's Cariole Ride is the perfect book to upload for your summer vacation. The cover pic is of warbride Kathleen Kell  sitting on a special ancient toboggan (called a nubougidan by Aboriginals in Alaska and a cariole by French Canadian missionaries). Cree children are hitching a ride behind. Here are two sample reviews from Amazon customers and, honestly, I didn't bribe anyone to get them:

1. "It is a beautiful love story, quick read and meaningful pictures that…

The Sun That Shines Through The Clouds/ The Author Inspiration for writing

The travails and the pressure of struggling in life lead to me writing because as an individual i wanted to elaborate on what was taking place in the world and also i wanted to encapsulate on the things that plagued the have not's and the disadvantaged people in our society and also wanted to share my great deal of agony.People are suffering in this world and the majority don't care why?Because they are not embedded in those adversed situations.example: people would rather criticize the…
