Book Review: Dark Lullaby by Mayra Calvani

Most parents usually warn their adolescent girls not to ever go home with stranger, especially not someone who one has just met in a bar.  But not many parents warn their sons to be careful who they go home with. This was the intriguing part of this spell-binding, page turning psychological thriller.  In addition to the chilling aspects of the book, there are also the strong underlying themes for all of us.

Apples & More Apples & Excerpt from Poor Defenseless Addie from Amazing Gracie series

Whose idea was this orchard we started? It was 22 years ago. I say it was my husband, Harold, who thought of fruit trees. He says it was me. He remembers when his brother, Aubrey, gave me the plum tree sprout at the edge of his yard. It came from his neighbor, Mrs. Kosta's old tree so that tree bears her name. The pear trees came from a pasture we rented close to Hannan Lake. I started them from seed in a flower bed so…

I don’t want to be famous… anymore

I have always loved stories. When I was a little kid my father asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Without hesitation I happily replied, “A famous writer.” When I graduated high school and was applying to colleges my father asked me what I want to go to school for? I replied, “I want to be a famous writer.” To which he replied lovingly; “Better have a backup plan.” I spent four years majoring in psychology and philosophy.

When I graduated…

Promise Fulfilled

When I started Promise of Tomorrow, I was not quite sure where the story would take me. As I finished Volume 6: Deliverance, it surprised me how far it went. http://empyricaltales.blogspot.com/2013/10/promise-fulfilled.html

Tears and Smiles

It’s been a crazy week for me and Pat one way or another. A lot of people have asked what the bad news from the hospital was all about. The specialist I am under wanted more tests before he could decide what was causing my problem, so rather than pre-empt him and attempt to diagnose my condition; I will wait until he tells me later this week. It isn’t the best of scenarios, but my faith in God has given me an enormous strength and belief, and I have no worries or fears plaguing the life out…
