Thanks, Mari - good thoughts. I've only played in the local arena so far - but look forward to spreading out soon. As far as another organization . . . well, I'm it. We'll figure it out.

Book Fairs are not usually big moneymakers but they are wonderful for contacts. It's better if you are part of a larger organization that rents the booth and takes care of the other needs, excepting your hotel and meals. The best thing about sharing a booth is the company you meet. No one does well going it alone.

Can somebody please teach me about bookfairs?
I'm going to attend the Cuesta College conference in October and considered adding the San Luis Obispo book fair while I was in the neighborhood. BUT, a quick calculation of the fee, the extra room night, and the city 10% tax told me that no matter how many books I sold I'd be in the hole! What's wrong with this picture?

Just moved my third novel from "completed" to "rewrite, edit, polish" phase. Whew! Planning to have it on the shelf for Christmas presents.

My apologies if you've seen my post on another site, but I'm so pleased I'm posting everywhere I have friends.

I keep trying whatever in the promotional arena seems to fit for me. But I'm often not sure if I'm getting a payback. In June, I attended the
Public Safety Writers(PSWA)Conference in Las Vegas. It was great, and I
met a lot of wonderful authors. I had an enjoyable time, and gained a
lot of what I considered valuable information.

Surprisingly, this time I've gotten "measurable" payback! My publisher
has just put both my titles, "Uncle Si's Secret" and "Death of a Perfect
Man" on Kindle. Something I very much wanted. I can attribute this
happening directly to the electronic publishing information I received
at the PSWA conference from Sunny Frazier, Marilyn Meredith, Tim Dees,
Billie Johnson, and others.

So not only am I continually thankful for organizations like PSWA, and
for forums like this one--but I'm also more and more
convinced networking and continual knowledge gain are really important.

Hello, everyone. This is my first post to the group and I just wanted to give you my greetings. My first novel, "In The Eye of The Beholder," is now available from Turner Maxwell Books (UK imprint) and I'm delighted. My Amazon link has an issue, but once it's corrected I'm happy to share it. I live in the Silicon Valley. I look forward to getting to know you. :-)
